UHS OB/GYN

"Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because all the nurses and front office staff were amazing. My wife transferred care here from Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY and was given Hacer Kural as an OB. It always seemed like Dr Kural was rushing around and didn't have time for my wife as a patient. Even the staff commented on feeling pressured to speed through their care because of Dr Kural's tempo. Fast forward Week 39: Dr Kural was doing a cervical check and I could see that she was using minimal lube. Of course, as one can imagine this caused intense pain for my wife. Dr Kural's response was to yell "relax" and then mid exam said "you know if you think this is painful I've got something to tell you, childbirth is way more painful... You should consider a C-section because you're tight)". My wife started crying, first because she was embarrassed/hurt, but also because she was totally exposed and felt helpless. As a loving husband, and a licensed RN, I was horrified by this. First of all I witnessed the lack of lubrication, then also hearing the lack of therapeutic communication and just cruel language that was used with my wife left me heartbroken. Our OB from Rochester, who works at Strong Memorial Hospital, was more than happy to take us back under her care and we are now traveling the 2.5 hours each way for her care. We will be looking for another local OB after this delivery. I have heard good things about El-Kassis and Stepanyan."

"The doctors and nurses at this UHS site are wonderful. I just wish your admin staff out front were more friendly. They never seem to look up to acknowledge your existence for several minutes. Usually there are 3-4 ladies out front with only one or two waiting on someone. I would just like one of them, not assisting a patient, to state "we'll be right with you". I realize they could be finishing up paperwork on a previous patient or something else, but let me know you see me. Hold up your pointer finger signifying "one moment". Thank you"

"Been going here for a few years now and have received nothing but the best care. I was originally directed here in the past to treat my endometriosis and the specialist that took care of me was very kind and gentle and did a good job describing my options and treatment plan, they even performed my surgeries and both came out without any complications. The nurses & doctors I've seen here so far are really kind/friendly most of them remember me though I struggle to remember them (I'm sorry, I'm bad with names/faces). They are pretty direct about my health and listen to any questions or concerns I have during my visits (though I don't normally have questions because they tend to describe things to me enough to be understood). I like this place and the people who've treated me, I want to say thanks to them and that I really appreciate the care I've gotten since I've arrived."
