He gained invaluable experience interning at the Franklin County Public Defender and District Attorney offices before being admitted to practice law in New York. His career began as an Assistant District Attorney in Suffolk County, where he prosecuted cases ranging from assault to white-collar crime.

Mr. Maffei's journey continued as he joined one of Long Island's largest personal injury law firms, rising to the position of senior trial attorney.
