Palmyra Parks & Recreation, located at 1000 West New Street in Palmyra, Missouri, is a vibrant community institution that has been serving the area for nearly 40 years. Flower City Park, established by the Palmyra Jaycees, has grown and thrived thanks to the support of the local community and generous donations from individuals and organizations. The park features a variety of amenities and facilities, including the fair grounds, which were incorporated into Flower City Park in the 90's. The Parks and Recreation Board, comprised of nine Palmyra citizens appointed by the Mayor, oversees the management of the city's parks and facilities. The park operates through a combination of rental fees, donations, grants, and a city-wide sales tax. One of the highlights of the year is the Independence Day celebration on July 3rd, which includes a spectacular fireworks show sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Palmyra.
