Stone Ridge of Shelby Apartments

"The community was clean and kept up nicely when we lived there. It was rather quiet too, which I preferred. Parking was terrible after our first year there. I could never find a spot near our unit after 7PM, but I at least felt safe walking through the parking lot at night- which says a lot because I had an infant at the time! We were the first to live in our unit, so take it for what it’s worth, but it was clean and nice. Our neighbors were great, but being on the top floor we could hear the people below us often, so I couldn’t imagine being on the middle or bottom floor. Overall, we didn’t think the cost was worth it with no assigned or covered parking and no real amenities (the pool wasn’t even open prime hours). The maintenance gentlemen were timely and very kind, specifically Mario. We were there 2 years, and like others, we experienced significant rent increases when renewing our lease. When we moved in during 2020 we loved the management, but when the new management took over we had some very poor and rude interactions."

"I moved here in 2021. The apartment itself is fantastic. Rarely had a bad neighbor. Close to everything I need. Front office staff was rough in 21, but the current staff is great to work with. Maintenance has been responsive and awesome since day 1. Absolutely worth it to me."

"I lived at stone ridge for a year and a half and here’s my experience. The people in the leasing office are very friendly even through management changed twice while I lived there. Maintenance is the best they keep the property up everyday and are quick to respond to any isssues which I only had 2 (spiders around doorbell and a loose cabinet). Snow is constantly shoveled all winter and grass is watered and cut all summer. Most neighborhors keep to themselves and there was never any drama. The apartments are beautiful and have so much space. Now the cons. PARKING! Is terrible even after they redid the lines to make more room. If you come home after 7pm good luck finding a spot near your building. You’d have to park along side your building and get up early to move your car after someone leaves for work or the property will slap a big green TOW sticker on your car. The apartments have horrible sound proofing. You can hear your neighbors if someone is heavy footed above you it’s a nuisance and people running up and down the outside stairs can also be heard throughout your apartment. I only moved because the place was quiet when I moved in but as people moved out more people took over who blast their car stereos sitting in the car at night, the lack of parking especially when you have a child or groceries to carry, and the loud noises from my neighbors. If you can deal with those issues make stoneridge your home you won’t be disappointed but if you’re looking for your parking and a quieter environment I’d look elsewhere."

"I just want to give a shout out to the lady’s in the office there both so nice. Sabrina has been a godsend. I’ve been here going on three years. She is by far the best. She is very helpful and kind. She’s a keeper. The maintenance guys Edd and Mario bust there butts around here to keep this place clean and in order, if you need something done there on top of it. I would recommend this place. Brand new buildings as of three years ago or so. Beautiful inside. Nice area. Pool. Lake. Fire pits. BBq’s. Kayaks. Dog park. Lots of other stuff going on too."

"Here is a review from a family (2 young kids and 2 small dogs) new to Michigan. I chose this property because I had very limited time to find something and Stone Ridge of Shelby checked most of the boxes. We moved in right before the office staff change over Aug '22. The "tone" of this office staff is very different from the previous staff and at times some what condescending, but not the end of the world. I agree that communication can be lacking and return phone calls are very much hit or miss. We were told about "all the fun summer things they host"-nope. I believe there was a food truck once and a 1 hour tenant appreciation pizza thing at the pool. Speaking of the pool, it used to close at 11pm and now closes at 9pm, during the summer it's still light out at 9pm. When I asked if there was a platform I could post about hosting a gathering of tenants I was told "aww that's sweet but you're too southern we don't do that kind of thing here (I'm from KY)". Love, love, love the location and the apartments are spacious, nicely appointed with lots of storage, unfortunately the walls are paper thin. Thank goodness I have the best neighbors ever! The grounds are very well lit and seem to be very safe. The tenants and their dogs have been super friendly. We were initially told the pool was heated and it isn't. I was excited about the "dog park" but it had tons of glass in it so no one ever used it. They just put gravel in it but I still haven't seen anyone use it. There are kayaks that can be checked out but only during office hours and they close at 6pm and aren't open on Sunday. Initially there was a terrible problem with overflowing dumpsters but that has been fixed. There are often overflowing pet waste receptacles throughout the property. Finally the price... we just ended our first year and felt for the size, amenities and location the rent was pretty on par with other properties in the area. Due to my husband's job we need an extension but will not be in the state long enough to sign an extended contract so we are now month to month. According to the contract the rent would change to "market price plus $200" that isn't what is happening. Rent has gone up more than that., significantly more. We were also told that rent can fluctuate monthly, to be prepared. Even after all this we do not regret our stay here I do think this property is better suited for young professionals and not families with elementary/middle school children. I kind of feel like it is what you make of it. We have chosen to focus on the good :)"
