The Gym Traverse City

"We went to The Gym TC on a day pass on the NYE holiday. They quickly responded to my FB message regarding hours and day-pass cost ($15). The gym seemed geared toward bodybuilders and a social media-inclusive environment (i.e. Colored lighting). My partner and I as powerlifters, appreciated the old-school metal plates and quality Elite FTS Powerbar. We did have trouble finding plates; it appeared many of the 45s were taken in the squat racks which made it seem there weren't many plates in the gym. From what we could tell, there were two bench presses and two squat racks. We did not see any deadlifting platforms/space. Overall, The Gym is good for us and other powerlifters as needed; however, it may not be equipped to handle the needs of power/Olympic lifters like ourselves on a regular basis. Would come back to bench again! Or if we were bodybuilders :) *Edit: As shown in the reply below, it appears the gym does have a powerlifting room, it just was not shown to us. Our feedback would just be asking the front desk to show new members around the facility. Unfortunately, this was not included in our visit, but perhaps the next! Thank you to the owner for promptly responding to our review :)"

"I transferred from Planet Fitness to The Gym, and I have already noticed a change in my body. I transferred one month ago and use all the resources at The Gym. I appreciate the permission to use a virtual reality headset on the treadmills. If you haven’t transferred to The Gym, from planet fitness, I highly recommend taking action now."

"Every time my wife and I visit family in Traverse City, we go to this gym. We loved it before it got remolded and love it even more after the changes they made. If you like the old school feel of body building gyms, you will love this place. It was not very busy during the mornings when we went so that was nice. The front desk people are always nice as well. Highly recommend if you're in the are!!!"

"The gym is my favorite place to sauna and work out. The facility is very clean, tidy and very comfortable. The staff is extremely friendly, respectful and super helpful. I love working out here because they're always seems to be enough space, and people are so nice. Enjoy daily drop in rates, or more affordable monthly membership! Super centrally located near art van off south airport. I love the sauna because it's usually pretty empty, and everything is so clean. It's my favorite place to take care of myself. I love that it's locally owned and I proudly support the sauna :)"

"Best Gym in the area. A little small but friendly staff, a few things are broken (i.e. treadmills, machines and a few small things) but overall better than the surrounding gyms"
