"Check-in was easy. Short wait in the waiting room. Nurse was friendly. Doctor was knowledgeable and kind. I asked a couple of different times if I had any more questions. Was thorough."
"Medstar is single handily the best hospital (in my opinion) in Montgomery County. While they may get busy, the staff (i.e. nurses, doctors, etc) always treats you with respect & makes you feel important, and always puts your medical needs first."
"I’m not one to leave bad reviews, however I feel it’s important to inform future emergency patients of the lack of care and consideration my 84 year old mother received. She arrived by ambulance in extreme pain from a hip injury. She was pre-opted quickly and then sat in the emergency room waiting area amongst many others. About 2 hours into our wait, a young woman was vocally upset about waiting for 6 hours and without any help. I’m writing this at 12:45am the day after we arrived at 5:30pm. We’ve waited 7 hours and 15 minutes. I’ve just spoke my concerns to the front desk and was informed that a doctor hasn’t been assigned to my mother yet. In speaking with other emergency room group, this what is expected at this facility. I’m surprised that a large medical facility operates worse than a $12 car wash."
"Where do I begin? Took a family member in via ambulance at 1030pm… waited in the waiting room lobby… got called back for X-rays and ultrasound… 2 hours later got called back to complete INTAKE paperwork… and we are still here… it is currently 350am and we were told for a second time that the radiology report is pending, after I had checked with the nurse on the status. The nurse in the ER is the only one running around and stated “we’re doing the best we can; this is one of the busiest days; it is what it is; we don’t have space; your patient is not at the bottom of the list as there are many people below him” so we and the rest of the people in limbo are sitting in this unsanitary lobby waiting for labs and just to talk to the doctor. I get that emergent cases get cared for first and we are not the only ones needing help - however my patient is sitting in a wheel chair unable to walk on his right foot and has major swelling and discomfort, as his foot dangles from the wheelchair because he can’t bend his ankle without extreme pain. Are we expected to just sit in the waiting room for another 5 hours before even speaking to anyone? ALSO worth noting, I went back to ultrasound with the patient because I am family - and the sonographer instructed the patient to remove his pants and get up on a bed. Where is a nurse? Where is the help? Absolutely unacceptable. We will never come back to this hospital if we can avoid it."
"In the past year I have had 3 experiences at this hospital regarding my grandmother. Every experience was terrible. Each time involved waiting in the ER for 8+ hours. We were told that only 1 doctor was working which seems absurd as this is no longer a small community hospital. Nursing staff was not kind and left my grandmother in deplorable conditions. I felt I had to be with her constantly because nursing staff would not help with her personal care. When I would ask for help nurses would say “Not my patient” in a very rude way. As a family member hearing a nurse say “not my patient” sounds a lot like “I don’t care”. This was made even more frustrating by the fact that nurses who said this would be sitting at the nurses station chatting it up with their friends. It’s hard to hear my grandmother literally crying while the nurses are in the hallway laughing. Beyond the terrible nursing care was a general lack in medical expertise. My grandmother was discharged at her “baseline” which was absolutely untrue. As prior to her admission she was walking, talking and independent and upon her discharge she could do NONE of these things. This place is terrible. If your situation is non urgent and you can get to another hospital that is probably for the best. Each time my Grammy was brought her by EMS and I have grown to dread it. The only kind people were custodial and dietary staff. The dietary staff was extremely patient when taking my Grandmother’s meal orders and wished her a speedy recovery."
