After retiring from a 36-year career at Dixon Valve and Coupling Co in June 2020, he decided to open his own school in a new location. In October 2020, the founder was promoted to 6th Degree Black Belt, Master Level by his Instructor Grandmaster Phil Little in Anderson, SC. He was also appointed as a Board Member of the United States Isshinryu Karate Association in October 2021. The school moved to its current location in Chestertown in September 2023.
