The Gate
● Closed“Enjoyed a tasty late lunch at The Gate with a choice of the tables dotted around the many delightfully warm open fires and log burning stoves. The welcome was as warm as the burning fires as was the surprisingly spicy Cajun chicken burger! Despite being sat in the end closest to the busy road; we couldn’t hear the traffic at all and really enjoyed watching the endless stupidity of many drivers through the sash window as we enjoyed our lunch. The pub doesn’t take bookings at all and given the carpark is always so full and chaotic it has always put us off visiting, but a break in the chaos gave us the opportunity see why it is always so manic; The delicious meals, the toasty fires, friendly team and fair pricing. There is an abundance of tables to choose from with a mix of smaller ‘rooms’ and larger areas like the conservatory. As it happens there is more parking available nearby that perhaps isn’t such a war zone!”

● Closed“Toni and his team are fantastic. We used the private room upstairs for a private function. The personalised menu was fantastic! Everyone loved the food - tasted great and very healthy portions! The service was genuinely 5 star, prompt and professional. The team struck the right balance of being on hand to wait, but leaving us to it to enjoy ourselves. Highly recommend and will be back to visit!”

Black Horse
● Closed“This place has really taken a huge upward turn since the removal of the former manager and is now surely the only pub in Barnet to frequent. The food here is phenomenal, the Sunday roast is by far the best in the area and there’s a quiz night every Wednesday, what’s not to like? A special mention goes to the fantastic staff who are all warm, welcoming human beings with a great energy that have put the Black Horse right back where it should be.”
