“A lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Well worth a visit”

“Have not been to the rose and crown in over 2 years because of covid. We visited sunday. Was so nice to see Karen and john. Such a friendly village atmosphere. Lovely warm log fire. Me and my husband had roast lamb. The lamb melted in your mouth one of the best roast dinners we have had in a long time. We was very lucky to be fitted in as it was very busy so I would advise to book. Looking forward to our next visit.”

“Came to the bountiful cow after walking out of another restaurant nearby due to bad service. And my god we were glad we did. The steak here is genuinely one of the best steaks we had ever tried, the portions are huge and the price is more than reasonable. Staff are friendly and helpful, environment is welcoming and homely. But the food is seriously impressive.”

“We have been to moxie's a number of times over the last 6 months and have enjoyed the food every time. The service is friendly and excellent too. We have tried the fried cod, fried hake and the grilled sea bream which are all highly recommended. Portions are generous and I would say that one portion of chips is probably enough to share between two. Definitely buy the homemade tartare sauce which is well worth the 50p that it is charged. If you are going I would definitely try the sea bream and ask them what the catch if the day is (usually £7.50 at lunch).”

“Lovely comfy room (we had twin). Not plush, but comfy. Slept well. Spacious en suite. Lovely& clean. We hope to return. So lovely! Good breakfast menu. Lovely friendly staff, very attentive. A good old pub/inn with lovely inglenook fireplace. Didn't want to leave & return to reality.”

“Ordered on deliveroo. Spicy salami & garlic bread. The pizza was delicious— I wanted no chillies but couldn't put a note in; still great. Garlic bread was a bit bland but the bread itself was great.”

“The food was delicious but I think some attention to detail on requests would be appreciated since my friend asked for no pickle on her burger but it came out with a pickle. No big issue but would be nice to have the order correct. Atmosphere was lovely. The scenery is excellent.”

“This was my favorite pub. We spent a great deal of time and money there. Good friends made, both staff and locals. Unfortunately, the manager, has no class and a bad attitude. The Runner is on suspension, for me, for 60 days. If it ever happens again, I won’t spend another £ there. Reply - I am not about to Dox anybody. We love the food, atmosphere and friendships. The absolute majority of your staff is excellent. A little bit of tact goes a long way though, as opposed to a “Shoosh”. You should indeed have a conversation with managers about how they deal with people, especially some that drop 500 quid a month. Thanks, Ollie, Very Best. Update - The Running Mare has definitely upped their game. Give credit where credit is due. This is a wonderful place where You will find kind and interesting people. “We had a really lovely experience here after some very hit and misses (more commonly misses) in the surrounding area while staying here for a week. The lady that served us was French and brought with her that air of hospitality as a career rather than a job that continental Europeans have that makes for really nice service. Efficient, polite and warm but unobtrusive. We hadn’t booked but were seated easily although it was a fairly busy Thursday night. Lots of outdoor and indoor seating available and a kids play park. I was so so happy to see the menu. A few carefully curated items rather than a huge menu (which I always avoid where possible as you just know it’s either done badly or isn’t fresh). I was surprised to notice that despite the appealing choices on the menu, literally everyone around us seemed to be eating burgers or fish and chips! Each to their own I suppose but I had the confit duck, my husband the lamb cutlets and his father the mussels. We all thought our food was incredibly tasty and were so happy we went on and had puddings which were also yummy. We would definitely be regulars if we lived in the area highly recommend!”

“Service was immaculate - they hosted a brilliant Birthday dinner. Catarina, the events manager was fantastic. She supported the organisation and Co-ordination of the event, including a brilliant set menu. Catarina helped booked the Orchard Room and catered highly to dietary requirements. This was incredible birthday, fantastic event and great food. Highly recommend to book Megan’s for group events and dinner. The grilled chicken to the beef short ribs and lamb to my favourite hot cookie dough. Thank you again Megan’s!”

“I was there yesterday at a lunch party for my uncle and Aunt’s Diamond Wedding Anniversary. The food and the service was really wonderful and a credit to the Haven. The food was beautifully presented and served hot. The room was elegantly decorated for 25 guests seated at a long table. Nothing was too much for the staff, I was so impressed. With everything thank you so much for making it such a special day.”

“Me and my family have been going to this restaurant for years. The owner is so lovely and always greets us when we come in. Food is always delicious and service is exceptional. Would recommend. P.s try the crispy onion side if you like onions they’re the best I’ve ever eaten.”

“Lovely pub restaurant. Cosy bar at the front with fires to make it extra cosy. We went to the rear dining room with views of the garden, and it was delightful the watching the birds, the squirrels and the fallow deer visiting the garden. Nice choice of traditional British favourites. I had beef and Guinness pudding which was tasty and also light, perfect. Very friendly and helpful staff.”

“I tried the Fish & Chips for the first time at Poseidons and I was pleasantly surprised. 10/10. I called them to place an order for 1 Large Cod and Regular Chips, asking the proprietor can you cook me a fresh cod with my chips, and he said, no problem, there’ll be ready in 10 mins. Just long enough for me to walk to Poseidons from where I live. I enjoyed them very much and will be ordering the same again, when I don’t feel like cooking at home. Highly recommend, and the customer service was top notch, very welcoming and kind. :)”

“Never knew such a gem existed in Queensbury. I cannot handle spicy food, but their food had so much flavour, I did not even notice the spice. The staff are friendly and the service is pretty good. I would definitely would recommend this place.”

“Fantastic food prepared by Chef Alex. A husband and wife owned concern that offers a unique dining experience. What helps is that there is local car parking which only helps expedite your taste buds. Do not delay your visit, aided by a white table cloth environment. CHEERS!”
