The Crown
● Closed“Edit August 2022 - five stars. I have visited the pub 6 times and have found the service and food pretty consistent, from the first day of opening to some of their most busiest times in the evenings and sunny days. They do roast dinners very well, the condiments are as good as the food and I suspect they are freshly made on site - horseradish had enough burn, mint sauce tastes fresh etc. There is a good selection of draught, as well as soft drinks. The luscombe brand is well worth trying as a non-alcoholic drink. Soda water is also available by the pint which is good to see. As a vegetarian option (can't remember if they are vegan), the allotment salad is tasty and available as main or small plate. I have had it twice and the leaves have always been fresh. If you don't like much dressing I'd recommend asking for it on the side, however it is the right amount for me. I did prefer the salad to the veggie haggis pie as I felt the flavours didn't blend as well with the rest of the filling. If you enjoy meat options, I would definitely recommend the chicken pie as a hearty option. A nice salad option would be the sticky beef salad, although I would recommend taking it as a smaller portion than the large main. The steak frites was delicious, very well cooked, a tasty steak and you definitely can taste is a higher quality cut. If it is a Sunday, definitely try out the roast dinners, you won't be disappointed. I have tried two of the desserts, a morello cherry sundae (with popping candy) and the dairy free Belgium waffle dessert. I think that both were equally good. The cocktails are great, I also enjoy the hot drinks too. If you are looking to visit in busier times, I would definitely recommend booking. The managers and staff are friendly and hardworking, this pub is definitely a welcome treat for the local area. I'd say, to get this review to 5 stars, it will just come with time as we know the hospitality industry in under pressure and novice staff are undergoing training, which can be more complex than it looks.”

The Lord Tredegar
● Closed“The best (and certainly the biggest!) Sunday roast I've ever had. Beautifully cooked, nicely presented and a great selection of vegetables to go with the lamb. The Yorkshire pud was ginormous - tasty. None of us could manage the generous helping of roast potatoes. The waiters helped us to our seats to make it easy for our elderly father. The biggest bravo goes to the Chef/s- we saw three of them churning out the meals from our seats. Overall, top marks.”

Seasons Bar and Function Room Woodford
● Closed“Visited for the first time on a Wednesday evening as a group of 4 friends, with the purpose of seeing Rob Lamberti (who is the best George Michael/Wham tribute act out there-that’s a whole other review!) This venue is like a tardis, with a long/ split ground floor level, large function room and a contemporary outside seated area too, with and 3 bars in total. Spotlessly clean, with an very aesthetically pleasing decor. The whole venue must be newly refurbished as nothing looks tired or worn and there are very stylish black and white pictures of famous faces covering all of the walls. The bar staff are super friendly and very welcoming and the owner Christine is just a delight! We left after a very pleasant 4 hours feeling like we had made a new friend. The house Prosecco was delicious and the pizza’s served in the function room were perfectly cooked, reasonable in price and arrived promptly. Wholeheartedly recommend this venue, if we lived more locally I know we would be regulars. Parking was easy for us as we found a space in the station a 30 second walk away, but otherwise it is street parking. There are large TV’s there showing all of the must see sporting action too. The venue was absolutely buzzing and a very good evening was had by all! Wednesday is definitely our new Friday after a visit to the Seasons bar this week!”

Brixton House
● Closed“I’ve been to Brixton House a few times over the past few months to drumming workshops & most recently to try out the community choir. On every occasion the front of house staff have been so friendly, welcoming & helpful. Box office personnel also efficient & polite over the phone. The programme of events & activities is varied & I find it to be a very accessible & inclusive space to explore creativity. The drumming was fun & tailored to the group & the choir leaders were professional yet encouraging & approachable & made the session really enjoyable. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend!”

Everyman Kings Cross
● Closed“The Everyman near Kings Cross was a great experience. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the station. Decor was lovely, staff were brilliant and our theatre in screen 3 was cosy with a perfect sized screen for the size of the room. I was a bit hesitant due to the mixed reviews for here but I can’t fault it. Yes it’s expensive compared to Vue or Showcase but it provides a different atmosphere to them, plus, as a treat it’s a great idea. If you want regular cinema prices then go to a regular cinema. If you want a cinema with sofas, leg room, hot food and a unique atmosphere then this is your place. Would definitely come back again!”

Curzon Mayfair
● Closed“A fabulous place to go see a movie, Screen 2 very intimate setting, comfortable atmosphere. Screen 1 bigger auditorium but still a good viewing standpoint. You can take food and drink in from the bar area. Such a shame there was a Petition up calling it to be designated an Asset of Community Value to stop its closure! It’s one of London’s oldest cinemas. Would be a sad day if the cinema was to be made into a bigger club venue next to the existing attached restaurant and bar.”
