The Grind Café
● Open8 Red Lodge Road, West Wickham BR4 0EL, United Kingdom“SUMMARY: Lovely friendly cafe / restaurant. Consistently good. We've visited on different days at different times - always hard-working, polite, diligent, and serve great quality food and drinks. Today's pictures are on a Sunday and the place is very busy - but we don't mind. It can be a bit noisy - but it's a cheerful chatty noise. We have been here when it's super-quiet and peaceful, so it's up to you to choose a good time depending on your mood. THE MENUS: Great choices of breakfast, healthy options, Mediterranean, brunch, lunch and snacks. We're never bored with the choices. Today's photos are the grilled chicken salad after the gym. Substantial, fresh and delicious. See photos of the menus. PRICES: very fair and reasonable - generous portions. DECOR & COMFORT: Contemporary look, nice, comfortable and a choice of indoor and outdoor. At the rear there is more outdoor seating in a cute yard but is down some steps. THE SERVICE: Always good. Very attentive and well trained staff. Eye contact and a genuine concern to make your visit good. They will change things, fix things and want to do the right thing for you. TOILETS: Very clean, smell-free, large, adequate with baby-changing fold down table. Step-free level access for buggies and wheelchairs. See photos. BUT... no handrails for the disabled which really would be a bonus. There was a chap in a wheelchair in the café when we visited, and it would be so much better putting a few more facilities for the less able. (Additionally, the Café entrance step could be corrected to allow for step-free access. It's very small, but I know from experience that even these small steps can be stressful for the less-able.) Finally, regarding the toilets: it is a fashion these days to install really high-powered hand driers. The one in this toilet, like many, is DEAFENING. At some stage, the law will change and these will be removed. Illogically loud. (And you can't put your wet fingers in your ears whilst trying to dry your hands! ) THE LOCATION: Busy part of West Wickham near a cross roads and the local council gym-swimming pool. So, parking outside is on the meter - see photos. The street across the road is free is you can find space (except 1-2 pm, Mon-Fri... be careful, you will get a ticket!). Or, pay to use the gym car-park. OVERALL: You can see from the ratings that The Grind is well respected and loved amongst the locals, the elderly, the young, parents with children & babies, groups, alone, the lads from the gym, the girls on a chatty afternoon... well liked by all. Cheerful, lively, successful. Well done to The Grind. We'll be back!”

Mercservices
● Open“Super pleased with support and service from William and David at Mercservices. Whilst a routine B service and MOT for my 2016 E350 estate, the process was very easy from start to finish and great value. I appreciated the advice around perhaps unnecessary work and their depth of Merc knowledge. All completed same day and great to have the car cleaned and and tyre pressures checked etc which doesn't always happen elsewhere. I will be back. Thank you!”

Harrison's
● Closed“Great for cheeses and olives and ham. Staff are happy to explain or offer advice if you are unsure. Also has a good if small selection of little cakes and brownies and different chocolates. Also chutneys and pickles and different biscuits/cheese crackers. Has a small selection of beers. Wine selection is medium sized but since it's is quite expensive stuff usually I haven't bought any, not being a connisour to know the difference. Has some outside and inside chairs and tables for a sip of wine and nibbles. Can get very crowded on a nice day in the summer.”

World Rugby Museum & Twickenham Stadium Tours
● Closed“This was the top of my list to visit. I love rugby and it was a great experience overall. Our tour included a guided walk around tour of the private function rooms, the royal viewing box, the sheds of the English Rugby Team and going on to the sideline of the stadium. It was topped off with a self guided tour of the museum which had something for all ages. Would highly recommend for anyone who enjoys rugby as well as anyone wanting to convince someone that Rugby is the game played in heaven!”

Hampton Court Palace

Take towels and maybe a change of clothes as the magical garden includes fountains and sand pits for the kids to play in.”

Little Street (Chidren's Role Play)
● Closed“I had my son's 4th birthday party at the Sevenoaks Branch. We had a brilliant time and the staff were so helpful in making sure the party went smoothly. It was all set up when we arrived and they were great in making sure the table was ready with lunch on at the right time and they made sure the cake was cut and ready to hand out for us at the end. I'd highly recommend using them for a party. The kids had a fab time and by the time the party ended I was still feeling calm and stress free!”

Natural History Museum
● Closed“We've always wanted to visit the Natural History Museum and finally got the chance to go this year. Based in South Kensington, it was fairly easy to plan travel to the location of the museum. We went on a Friday during the summer holidays and it was pretty busy but we were able to get round the museum with ease and look at all that we wanted to. It was free to enter and we had no waiting time but we were told by friend to book tickets online anyway so you have a slot time for your visit. Our main area of interest was the Jurassic era so seeing real dinosaur bones and preserved fossils was pretty amazing. We even got to see Dippy the Dinosaur that is currently at the museum for a limited time. Lots of great history and facts on earth and wildlife. Really enjoyed it. Its free to enter and all they ask for is donations towards keeping it open. The only downside I personally experienced was that I bought a salad from one of the on site Cafes and about 20 minutes after eating it, it repeated on me and I spent about 15 minutes in the loos being sick. My top tip would be to eat before you attend, take snacks and a bottle of water to stay hydrated. It got pretty hot in some of the rooms so be prepared.”
