“Some of the best Thai food I have had outside of Thailand. Vegetables spring rolls and salt n pepper squid are delicious and you get a surprising amount of squid which is always a pleasant surprise in London. It was my nephew first time trying Thai food and he was very pleased. I would recommend the massaman curry which very tasty ! The staff are very friendly I will definitely be coming back.”

“I discovered this place by coincidence for the simple fact that I recently moved to the area. It's difficult to describe with words how much I love it. Everything is beyond perfection and make this one of the best restaurants in London if you want atmosphere, great food and great service ... all at a very reasonable price. I haven't tried all dishes yet but so far I was blown away by the Bamia (OKRA) and the Awaze Tibsi. I'm really fascinated by the vernacular decor of the place, which really makes you feel like you just stepped in Eritrea. The background songs are all beautiful (it made me discover the artist Abrar Osman!). And, nevertheless, the people are so welcoming and make you really feel at home, both the restaurateurs and the loyal clients. A special mention to Jordanos for introducing me to the dishes and for generally being nice and chatty. Couldn't recommend it more!”

“Absolutely delicious food with reasonable prices! We have had home made bifteki stuffed with cheese as well as chicken skewers box and looking forward to try the others. The meat is so fresh, you can easily tell this at first bite. High recommended and definitely going back there.”

“So glad me and my family, after living in Welling for a very long time, finally went to Eastern Curry. We each had a starter and main; it was all absolutely delicious and presented beautifully. A lovely atmosphere inside the restaurant as well. A real hidden gem in the area.”

“We’ve been coming to Haywards for almost ten years now and despite many changes to staff in the kitchen and front of house the standards have never dropped. Under the guidance of owners Amanda and Jahdre they have still manage to produce amazing food with friendly and professional service. Our latest visit was Saturday lunchtime where on arrival we received a lovely welcome from Amanda before she escorted us to our customary table 10. After a little catch up she told us that Jahdre had created for us a special menu that would showcase all the new dishes on the menu. This was a fabulous gesture and one we gladly accepted. We started with homemade Granary Sourdough bread and a selection of snacks including a cauliflower cheese veloute , harissa arancini , goat’s cheese and tomato canneloni. This led us to out first course a Chicken and Ham Hock Terrine with celeriac remoulade , toasted brioche and a homemade piccalilli. This was followed by the Fillet of Pollock with a crab bisque , hispi cabbage. and parsnips. Both dishes were an absolute delight and the flavours complimented each other perfectly. Amanda paired the courses with a Framingham 2021 Riesling from New Zealand. We now moved onto the main course which was a heavenly and rich Braised Pork Cheek with a white bean cassoulet and gremolata topped with a piece of pork crackling. This was paired with a Grand Garant 2020 Fleurie from France. We decided to follow this with a Cheese Course. We then finished with dessert which was a Chocolate Mousse with mascarpone sorbet , coffee cremaux and lime gel a twist on a tiramisu. The pairing for this dessert was a beautiful Australian Muscat from the Rosewood Vineyards that tasted like a light pedro ximinez. Apparently we wasn’t finished there as chef Jahdre sent out an Orange Soufflé with grand marnier caramel and cinnamon ice cream. This was a delight and the flavour combinations worked perfectly together. A coffee and petit fours brought to an end another fabulous dining experience at Haywards with fantastic food , perfect wine pairings and great service. If i ever needed another reason why i think this is the best restaurant in Essex then today’s visit did everything to enhance that. Looking forward to many more visits this year which will at some point include our 150th. Thank You Amanda and Jahdre for a fantastic lunch and look forward to seeing you again soon.”

“Did the catering for my engagement. Everybody loved the food and the service was great. The garam monthar is out of this world. I ate it for 4 days straight after the event. The bateta nu saak and undhiyo received many compliments. The daar was perfect in terms of the consistency and flavour.”

“Used this restaurant in it's previous guise of Punjab and was disappointed when it changed hands and became Indiagate. Fears were confirmed on the first visit. Heard recently ownership had changed again and decided to give it another go. The improvement was marked. Food much better and a general impression that the place was well set to get back to former glories.”

“Really wonderful and authentic Thai food in a very unassuming setting. I love how everything is homemade, dim sum, gyzoa etc. It's BYOB which we didn't know but the newsagent across the road is perfect for this. The Massaman curry is the best I've tasted in the UK so definitely order this. If I had one positive criticism it would be they are far too busy with online orders and take aways (presumably as the food is soooo good) that service if you dine in can suffer on a busy Friday or Sat night. But the food is worth the wait!”

“Fantastic community hub... Enabling adults with learning disabilities to get out in the work place and gain experience. Why would you visit this place when the cakes, coffee, sandwiches and jacket potatoes are so so good . Also found out today they provide outside catering too! We chose our bits to paint and weren't rushed or given any timings so we could just paint and chat. Really nice little place, not overly expensive. We had a great time and will definitely be going again.”
