“Enjoyed a wonderful lunch, went for the tasting menu which was absolutely delicious and reasonable value relative to comparable Michelin-starred restaurants. Every course was great, absolute highlights for me were the 'chaud froid' egg (not at all what I expected but memorable), the charred bream and the lamb. Humongous amounts of truffle were (appropriately) served throughout the menu! Cocktails were excellent! Matched wines were also very good and worked with the menu, but with hindsight we'd have been better off ordering individual glasses as it was better value and there were a couple of wines not to my taste. Service was fantastic - friendly and attentive and not pretentious. Really nice, spacious restaurant interior, not crammed-in like other restaurants. Easy parking for the non-drinker (sadly, me) in the party. We will definitely visit again.”

“Unreal hotel. My mom and I stayed 1 night here on our UK road trip. The property is gorgeous, the hotel itself is crazy beautiful. Every person who worked there was so nice to the both of us. I even got nice room upgrade to a cute suite. The bed was comfortable, the room was cozy and the shower was amazing. We love a waterfall shower. Would definitely stay here again. The breakfast in the morning was delicious too!”

“Lovely comfy room (we had twin). Not plush, but comfy. Slept well. Spacious en suite. Lovely& clean. We hope to return. So lovely! Good breakfast menu. Lovely friendly staff, very attentive. A good old pub/inn with lovely inglenook fireplace. Didn't want to leave & return to reality.”

“Went here last night with 3 friends for food and drinks. First time I had been there - great atmosphere and super food! Have already booked again !! Looking forward to going to one of the music nights there too.”

“This was my favorite pub. We spent a great deal of time and money there. Good friends made, both staff and locals. Unfortunately, the manager, has no class and a bad attitude. The Runner is on suspension, for me, for 60 days. If it ever happens again, I won’t spend another £ there. Reply - I am not about to Dox anybody. We love the food, atmosphere and friendships. The absolute majority of your staff is excellent. A little bit of tact goes a long way though, as opposed to a “Shoosh”. You should indeed have a conversation with managers about how they deal with people, especially some that drop 500 quid a month. Thanks, Ollie, Very Best. Update - The Running Mare has definitely upped their game. Give credit where credit is due. This is a wonderful place where You will find kind and interesting people. “Really really really nice chicken and rib combo. Had the garlic and her dough balls to start also and they were nice. Was disappointed with the apple crumble as there wasn't much apple, and the crumble was a bit well done. Lovely outdoor seating area at both front and back. Little booth/huts which have heaters and plastic zip down covers also. Will definitely return! Had the same main meal again today and still great! Service was a bit slow but was quite busy.”

“Hired the Buttery for my Mum's 90th Party, excellent service, excellent room, excellent buffet. Also stayed one night in one of the lovely guest rooms, breakfast was really good. Staff, Venue, Food, Drink, Accommodation all first class.”

“We visited the restaurant on Xmas Eve, great atmosphere. Our waitress all evening was Jo, she was really helpful when it came to knowing the menu, my husband had the lamb, which he loved, I had the sea bass and was looking forward to the flower pot afters, Jo even checked to make sure there were still some left. We didn’t just get left, but we were asked were our courses ok and whether we wanted any more drinks. A great time was had by all. Thank you”

“Stayed in the Catherine Parr Suite for 3 nights across our wedding in August (bank hol). The room is beautiful - large, clean, comfortable, complimentary mini-bar (+ welcome wine and cookies), efficient room service and has views over to the Palace. The meal we had there was really good quality and the breakfast selection is good too (although a shame cooked breakfast isn't included unless you're in a suite). The staff were all helpful and friendly and any issues were dealt with quickly. Staying again in December!”

“My wife and I booked this hotel as it was the most reasonable priced one. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. From the check in to check out they were fantastic! The rooms and the facilities are perfect! The location is amazing! Literally everything you need is in this village. Train station is right behind the hotel and you can't hear any trains! I Would definitely recommend staying here.”

“Wow. What a wonderful concept. Just like having a personal chef ... Delicious food in gorgeous, tiny, bijou designer setting. Chef Giulio excels and pretty much cooks to order and in your time frame; and lovely Luisa is his perfect front of house. Extensive and unusual wine list Nowhere like it. A must do experience. “As an experienced diner who regularly eats at Al la Carte restaurants every Saturday evening I was lucky to come across Giacomos when searching for somewhere different to try. Crisp white linen table cloths were greatly appreciated as so many restaurants think it is trendy to eat from formica tables despite claiming to be high end. Since our first visit during which we could not fault a single thing we immediately booked to come back within the next two weeks. The staff are friendly and attentive, but not intrusive, and the food is good quality beautifully cooked. At the time there was a small party celebrating a birthday who were all enjoying themselves and from an onlooker received excellent service throughout right down to the end of their meal when they were served champagne. This week we discussed how lovely the lighting is, not too bright but a warm glow. I have eaten every variety of meat they have on the menu. The liver, veal. steak and lamb were all cooked to perfection. It is also nice to see people made an effort in the way they dressed which not only showed respect for the restaurant but for other diners. Who wants to see workman's jeans when you have dressed suitably for a lovely evening meal in stylish surroundings, keep them for the burger bar. .”

“Little Rome in London. I honestly think this is the best compliment I can give to this place, in order to describe it properly. The food is delicious and tasty, every bite slowly takes you down to Italy. Supplí are amazing, pasta is delicious and pizza is a masterpiece. Highly recommended.”

“Last week we had a rather belated "Sam Lane Photography Christmas Party" and thankfully chose a warm, dry night to sit outside in the secluded courtyard terrace. We enjoyed some fabulous dishes (starters: scallops, soufflé, foie gras; mains: rib of beef and steak); paired with some amazing wines. And we finished with some delicious desserts - pear tart to share, crême brûlé... A very, very nice evening indeed!”

“Fantastic rooms (albeit a tad cold despite climate adjustment). The staff were very attentive and brought my son cuddly toys. They have an amazing spa, incredible gym, and the breakfast was perfect (they even had a proper oat cuppucino in the inclusive breakfast which I highly recommend). Will come back!”
