Whipsnade Zoo
● Closed“A great day out for couples! Plenty of space for a picnic or for a rest in general during sunny and warm days in between of walking around. Plenty to see- you need at least 8h to be able to see everything properly. I would suggest leaving early. There's plenty of free parking. There’s an option to convert your ticket to a membership for a low fee and then you can get more for your money if you like going to Zoo more then once a year.”

ZSL
● Closed“I went for the twighlight event which was so lovely, usually I come to the zoo with my daughter but it was great to experience the zoo as an adult as the facts about the animals were a little more age appropriate. There were many pop up areas and the decor was lovely to see. There were areas to sit and relax and enjoy your food and drinks too. Only thing I was gutted about was not seeing the tigers and gorillas but it is what it is. I managed to see everything else and learn some new facts too.”

Bearded Pigs
● ClosedLondon NW1 4RY, United Kingdom“The London Zoos bearded pigs live in a lovely spacious enclosure in Tiger Territory in the Zoo. I have only seen them a few times, but you might get lucky as they are unpredictable. The bearded pigs enclosure is highly recommended in the Zoo, which is definitely worth a visit!”

Carshalton Water Tower & Historic Garden Trust
● Open“Fascinating slice of history, you can explore the suite of entertaining rooms, including the orangery, saloon, pump room and plunge bath. The garden space surrounding the building features an impressive hermitage grotto and "sham bridge", either end of what was originally a boating pond at the Western springhead of the River Wandle. The Water Tower is a unique Grade II listed early 18th century garden building sited in the grounds of Carshalton House in South London, built when the area was in the Surrey countryside, full of large houses owned by wealthy families. "As the name suggests, this contained a water-powered pump, which supplied water to Carshalton House and the fountains in its garden. However, the building was and is much more than this as it contains a suite of rooms such as the Saloon, the Orangery and a splendid early 18th century bathroom with a tile lined plunge bath. Aside from the Water Tower, there is the surrounding garden including the Hermitage and Folly Bridge. All this is managed voluntarily by the Friends of Water Tower & The Historic Garden Trust."”

Leybourne Lakes Country Park
● Open“Absolutely in love with this place! Surprisingly, was passing by on the way to work every single day and didn't know about this awesome place until yesterday. Good size pay & display parking with reasonable prices: up to 4 hours £1.40, which gives plenty of time to explore different trails and enjoy the surrounding beautiful lakes with swans and ducks and wildlife. If you would like to stay longer there, over 4 hours is £4. If you didn't come back before gates are shut, you have to wait until next morning when park will be open again (7:30 am) to retrieve your car. So, make sure, you are not late! At the moment it is open until 9:00 pm, but soon will change to 8:30 pm. Season parking ticket £40 a year. Not bad I would say if you are local or living near by. The area quite big, so your kids and dogs will love it! Lots of benches everywhere and playground for kids, children's play area includes an adventure trail, cargo net, monkey bars and a smaller play unit for the younger ones. There is also seating and picnic benches in and near the play area too! The play area is located near the Ocean Lake. There is also the cafe, also near Ocean Lake . Refreshments are available every weekend, bank holiday and school holiday's (weather permitting). Serving freshly cooked hot or cold food, drinks and variety of snacks, ice creams, bird seed for the ducks andeven treats for the dogs! But that is not all! We have found out that Leybourne Lakes offers a wide range of water sports too via Watersport Centre. Activities include: stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, scuba diving, small paddle boats, open water swimming and wind surfing. They also host Aquathons and Sprint Series triathlon events via Ocean Lake Tri Club. If you like walking, there are every Tuesday and Thursday one hour healthy walks through variety different routes around the country park organised too! Lots too consider I would say! :) Pleased we have found this place, apparently , 230 acres still to discover(!) and definitely recommend it!”

Battersea Park Children's Zoo
● Closed“Nice little zoo in the middle of London. Great place to spend a morning or afternoon with the kids. Nice enclosures with animals that all look well looked after, healthy and have enough living space. Also a big playground with swings, sandbox etc. And they sell coffee and ice cream, what else do you need!”

Lee Valley Animal Adventure Park
● Closed“This visit was a last minute plan because almost all the other places were booked up. And I am glad that we found a spot. Its a massive place with so much for kids to do. The place is well maintained, the animal seem well taken care of! The bouncy castle was a hit and the food was good. We spent just about half a day and kids still didn't want to go home! They have so much space that they can easily get a theme park going which would be great!”

World Expeditions
● Closed“The ancient landscape and special spiritual places of the Larapinta Trail were mesmerising. The 6 day itinerary covered all the highlights and having three camps allowed maximum walking time. Nice to have the alternate long and short days and I learned a lot from the Standley Chasm cultural talk. The guides had said ‘take your time’, ‘be in the moment’ and that’s how I like to walk. They were so patient with me hanging at the back of the group taking photos and soaking it all in! Thanks so much for your care and professionalism Ruth, Claire and Peter. Met some lovely people too!”
