“This a lovely restaurant and the definition of a secret gem. The food is both Ethiopian and Eritrean so you have the option of some very tasty meat dishes with your injera as well as vegetarian which you may already be familiar with if you've eaten Ethiopian before. Wine is very reasonably priced too. Highly recommended!”

“It was my first time in Angel cafe. What a fantastic experience! I had the best coffee in a long time, cakes are delish and can't fault the friendly staff offering great service...By the way, if the hygiene is important to you, just check the spotless toilet! Couldn't help it but took a photo! Perfect place to meet up with friends... I would highly recommend it!”

“I always walk past this place. But honestly if my local hadn't been renovating. I wouldn't of found this hidden gem. The meals were cooked to perfection. The customer service was spot on and wasn't close minded to me having cheese eggs. The smoked salmon is really flavoursome. The bread is fresh. You can tell by the crunch on the toast. Side salad is served with most meals and a sit in and sit out option is available. As well as takeaway. Definitely would recommend you to try the food here and juices as they are made fresh. Just like the peppermint tea. That was made from fresh mint leaves, the lemon on the side gave it a good flavour. Will definitely visit again ☺”

“Wanted something cheer me up. Lovely staff(think the lady’s name was Helen) helped me choose treats and brewed the perfect espresso. I’m very coffee fusy and loved the coffee here. Owners roast the coffee themselves and handmake the chocolates. This place is the perfect feel good pick-me-up!”

“Love this place, family-owned & feels like it! Great breakfast selection, I go for toast & poached eggs with granola; eggs are perfect, quality Greek yoghurt and iced coffee is traditionally made. It’s really the little things that make this cafe 10/10 and I always stop by when passing!”

“We had a wonderful brunch at the Martil cafe in Croydon. The food was delicious and well presented! Generous portions and reasonably priced. The staff there were very friendly and made it a pleasant quick stop for some lunch! We ordered the Martil’s smash and eggs florentine- absolutely loved trying both!”

“We ordered the chicken curry with rice and the chicken biryani. Both tasted great and the spice level was just right (and is customizable on request). The biryani also came with two sauces for balance. The prices are very reasonable and I would definitely order them again! The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome even though it was our first time. There were many regulars there too. For a cafe, the food took quite some time to arrive after ordering but this is forgivable given the final quality - I would not want them to rush if it meant sacrificing the taste.”

“Foods are freshly made. We ordered extra spicy and they made it as we requested. (The owner even gave me extra fresh chilies because he read me very well) And extra ⭐️ for the owner! He is a very friendly person and he recommended us some restaurants for Dim Sum and Asian grocery store for spices! And ooops I didn’t take any pictures of the food for reference.
