Home Store Cafe
● Open“I ordered a roast from here and it was really good. I didn't expect such a tasty meal from a cafe. The portion size was generous and it was well cooked. The prices are reasonable. You can eat in, takeaway or get delivery via the usual apps. They do breakfasts, sandwiches and a wide range of hot meals. I'll definitely be trying some of the other dishes. This seems like a family run place so even more reason to return”

Helena's Bed and Breakfast South East London
● Open“A very cheerful welcome by lovely, helpful, kind people. Helena and Jessica are doing a fab job and we loved the little room we stayed in. The breakfast was a delight, all that fresh food and the toast and choice of tea or coffee and all that was needed. We may well stay there again, if we manage to save up pennies for a further trip to London- the most exciting city with the loveliest people. Peckham is interesting.... very multiculti and absolutely fine!”

Premier Inn London Farringdon (Smithfield) hotel
● Open“I've stayed in quite a few Premier Inns and this one was absolutely fantastic, from the time we walked in at 12:30pm they sorted us a room when we weren't supposed to check in till 3 p.m. The man on the check desk was absolutely brilliant, polite, smart etc. The property itself looks newly renovated and the room was perfect. Even when we checked out the cleaner was in the corridor and greeted us with a friendly good morning and asked how we were. As I checked out a different person was on the desk who was equally polite and well dressed, ask me how my stay was etc. Overall a fantastic experience and would give them 10 out of 5 if I could. (I don't write a lot of reviews but I thought I had too express how good this place was)”

Premier Inn London Elstree / Borehamwood hotel
● Open“I stayed at Premier Inn Elstree Boreham while my husband was in hospital. I spent 9 nights in that hotel. It was a very difficult time for me, but the staff were very kind and so helpful, they made my stay very comfortable. They received parcels for me when I was not in. The dinner I had there was well prepared. The restaurant service was very good. I will definitely stay at Premier Inn again, it was affordable, clean, comfortable and safe when I needed just such a place. Thank you to cleaners, receptionists, bar and restaurant staff, maintenance etc, you all played your part to perfection.”

Best Western London Queens Hotel Crystal Palace
● Open“I really enjoyed my stay here, honestly wanted to stay longer than the 4 days I stayed. The hotel has a good location - it's close to the bus station, restaurants and a big Sainsburys which is a few minutes walk from it. The hotel provides parking although I did not need it. I booked a room with a double bed and it comes with a TV as well. The room was quaint and neat, lots of towels provided, and it had air conditioning which was crucial for the hot weather. The bathroom was a very good size, honestly I think it was my favourite part of the room. I loved the design and colour of the room, I suppose it has something to do with the history of the area (as an aspiring architect, I enjoy these little details). I think the interior of the hotel is wonderfully decorated and contrasts with the exterior though. From the outside, you'd think something completely different, however when you go in, it's decent. Within the hotel, a vending machine for bottled water and snacks is provided. There was also a microwave located in the lobby of the reception which I wished I knew earlier (so take note in case you're on a budget and don't want to spend lots of money on takeout). The service I received was great - I lost my oyster card on the hotel premises, and the reception called me when it had been found. They were also willing to keep my luggage for me after I checked out. If I ever need to come back to London, I will be looking to stay here again.”

All the food was very, very good and I liked the extras such as a tray of salad and the free starter offer. Wyld thyme eatery
● Open“Very lucky to have this cafe on our doorstep. Kate (the owner) and her team are always welcoming and make a special fuss of our dog Luna even if we just walk by. Great selection of cakes all lovingly made by Kate and a great selection of food for breakfast & lunch. Kate also runs a Supper Club on a Thursday evening where she creates a varied 3 course meal each week. We have been on several occasions & have been delighted with the dishes and wine. Highly recommend for brunch, lunch, amazing cakes or a treat at the Supper Club. Not forgetting the cakes made to order for any celebration. Ordered several for various family celebrations. All delicious & loved by all our guests!”

Medlar
● Closed“I booked Medlar for wife's birthday, I saw the reviews were decent and I thought I give it ago myself. I like the menu was just a set price. Either opting for the 2 course or 3 course menu. As it was a celebration we opted for the 3 course menu. The menu looked great with a nice selection of options. My wife went for the crab ravioli to start and I chose the tuna option. Both were really tasty, the tuna was fresh and light with a lovely Asian dressing. We ordered the rioja red wine which was lovely. Its nice you can bring your own wine and pay the corkage fee. They brought us lovely bread through out courses which was a nice touch. My wife had the beef for mains and I went for the monkfish. Both were beautiful cooked and delicious. For dessert I had the chocolate moose and my wife had the creme brulee. If was a lovely finish to the meal. We enjoyed the food it felt quite high end and seemed decent value. As it was my wife's birthday they surprised her with a sorbet with a candle in it and some complimentary marshmallows and chocolate truffles.”

Haywards
● Closed“We’ve been coming to Haywards for almost ten years now and despite many changes to staff in the kitchen and front of house the standards have never dropped. Under the guidance of owners Amanda and Jahdre they have still manage to produce amazing food with friendly and professional service. Our latest visit was Saturday lunchtime where on arrival we received a lovely welcome from Amanda before she escorted us to our customary table 10. After a little catch up she told us that Jahdre had created for us a special menu that would showcase all the new dishes on the menu. This was a fabulous gesture and one we gladly accepted. We started with homemade Granary Sourdough bread and a selection of snacks including a cauliflower cheese veloute , harissa arancini , goat’s cheese and tomato canneloni. This led us to out first course a Chicken and Ham Hock Terrine with celeriac remoulade , toasted brioche and a homemade piccalilli. This was followed by the Fillet of Pollock with a crab bisque , hispi cabbage. and parsnips. Both dishes were an absolute delight and the flavours complimented each other perfectly. Amanda paired the courses with a Framingham 2021 Riesling from New Zealand. We now moved onto the main course which was a heavenly and rich Braised Pork Cheek with a white bean cassoulet and gremolata topped with a piece of pork crackling. This was paired with a Grand Garant 2020 Fleurie from France. We decided to follow this with a Cheese Course. We then finished with dessert which was a Chocolate Mousse with mascarpone sorbet , coffee cremaux and lime gel a twist on a tiramisu. The pairing for this dessert was a beautiful Australian Muscat from the Rosewood Vineyards that tasted like a light pedro ximinez. Apparently we wasn’t finished there as chef Jahdre sent out an Orange Soufflé with grand marnier caramel and cinnamon ice cream. This was a delight and the flavour combinations worked perfectly together. A coffee and petit fours brought to an end another fabulous dining experience at Haywards with fantastic food , perfect wine pairings and great service. If i ever needed another reason why i think this is the best restaurant in Essex then today’s visit did everything to enhance that. Looking forward to many more visits this year which will at some point include our 150th. Thank You Amanda and Jahdre for a fantastic lunch and look forward to seeing you again soon.”
