“Edit 11 April: just ordered from Tuk Tuk for the third time and omg whomever was cooking tonight, kudos to them! Absolutely incredible and took me right back to Thailand! Loved the Tom yum rice and the chilli and basil pork stir fry with coconut rice!!! Holy WOW!!! 5 star and the best Thai takeaway in the area! Ordered drunken noodles, pad Thai and tom yum fried rice from here and I have to say, whilst it’s one of the best Thai’s in the area (Purley is seriously lacking), it could still be better. The pad Thai was lovely with lovely large prawns but the sauce tasted like it was from a jar rather than authentic tamarind. The drunken noodles were smokey and didn’t taste like authentic pad kee mow, but the Tom yum fried rice, in spite of not being fully authentic, was amazing! Really good flavours and good sized prawns. Overall, it tastes like someone not Thai, making Thai food. Apologies if this is incorrect, but just the way it came across in the cooking. Yes, I would definitely order from Tuk Tuk again as it was mega tasty, but it’s personally not authentic enough to satisfy my Thai craving.”

“Been having takeaway from these guys for the past couple of years and generally they're great. The curries are really tasty and naans are always excellent. Delivery is usually fairly swift and friendly. Only criticism is that sometimes the papadoms are over done and not that fresh (chewy).”

I got lock out at night and I had nothing with me (not even my mobile phone and wallet) but they allowed me to sit inside the restaurant as it was freezing outside and offered me a free big dish of fried noodles that I couldn't even finish. Since I have visited this shop for three times only andI have just recently arrived in the UK not long ago and still do not familiar the country too much. They helped me called the locksmith and got it sorted at the end. Without them I may end up with a worse scenario than this!”

The Thai Elephant management should be proud of the staff, as Chinese/Thai restaurants are notorious for an impersonal robotic service, however your staff are amiable, attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable (while not being overbearing), and maintaining a professional distance. “I've been living in the area now for 18 months and have passed this place a few times, decided to pop in for lunch today and was highly impressed with the menu, proces and service. Lunch menu was well priced for a decent starter and main. Food was served fresh and tasted very nice. Our server was very polite and attentive also. I will be back.”
