The Winning Post
● Open265 High Street, Sutton SM1 1LD, United Kingdom“Was there for funeral wake for my Cousin. It was his local, the Landlord Jamie and young lady serving were very welcoming. Jamie's Dad also. My Cousin was a 'Regular' so Jamie was also at his funeral service, which was a nice thing to do. The food was perfect and delicious. As it was quite early in the day we started the wake on tea but I then had a tasty wine & lemonade spritzer, it was lovely. Well done to all the team at the Winning Post for respectfully giving my Cousin a grand send off.”

The Crown & Sceptre, Shepherd's Bush
● Open“The Crown & Scepter is one of those rare backstreet neighbourhood pubs that survived the storm of closing pubs across the country through sheer quality. The reasons it survived are its amazing quality authentic thai cuisine, its great range of beers and its large and comfortable in and outdoor spaces. Its also typically not completely packed out allowing for drop in visits in a time of having to book ahead, even on a Friday night. I would recommend anyone in the area to take the extra steps to visit.”

-
The Ivy House
● Open“Sadly I am not a comunity owner, but wished I am. I've been coming to this community pub since its opening. A best friend had his 40th here and his brother provided the Elvis tribute entertainment, because it has, scarce for a pub, a proper stage. Saw the house tribute band perform a tribute to Bowie after his early death. Then there is the atmosphere of an unspoiled pub, friendly staff, local ales, craft beers and tasty food (try the gourmet pizzas), which all adds up to a super local. Try it as a destination pub; you will not be disappointed.”

Joiners Arms
● Open50-52 Woodside Green, London SE25 5EU, United Kingdom“Nice friendly pub, frequented by locals and visitors from afar. with lots of ornate decorations. Great entertainment with live bands and karaoke. The drinks are reasonably priced. Has the look of a country pub but is situated not far from Central Croydon. Well worth a visit.”
-
The Mayflower Pub
● Closed“Excellent food in a cozy, down to earth atmosphere. The Sunday roast was delicious--the sauce was flavorful and potatoes were slightly crispy, as if baked after steamed. The lamb neck with couscous could not have been better--tender and juicy meat falling off the bone. Starters were excellent as well-- delicate scallops with avo and bacon, and spicy squid in cream sauce with a baguette. One of the best meals!”

The Gladstone Arms
● Open“One of my favourite pubs, always such a warm welcome. This pub has one of the most genuinely friendly atmospheres about! A true "IYKYK" pub, one of the greatest pubs in London in my opinion. Also great beer, fantastic food (go for the roast on Sunday, it will blow your world).”

-
The Plume of Feathers
● Closed“Going to "The Plume" is like seeing an old friend, small things change but essentially the best bits remain. Fortunate because I met an old friend there and we quaffed excellent Harveys bitter and lager, eating well off of their seasonally changing menu. They are still misguided in their football affilliation, but that aside it's a well kept, well run pub and worth a visit to recharge after a brisk walk in the park.Recent managers installed who love the pub and don't see the need to change anything. Held a wake there and food excellent with great service. a pub that deserves to succeed.”

Curzon Aldgate
● Open“Fantastic, from start to finish. Love walking into this place. Great chilled decor, attentive staff, good food selection - just wish there can be an alternative to all the bread. Love the veggie antipasto and dip selection, but not eating wheat made it interesting! Slices of carrots, celery.... would have been great. Cinema seats are really comfortable. As ever with the Curzon group, wonderful selection of films. Top marks.”
-
Essex Wildlife Trust, Bedfords Park Nature Discovery Centre
● Closed“Great park. Probably the best in the area to be honest. Long walks, great views and a real sense of being away from it all... even though it’s only 5 minutes away from the outskirts of Romford. Oh, plus the deer compound and the secret walled garden. Just to add to the allure!!! Update... they now have some new play equipment near the main car park. Fantastic!”
