“Nice place run by friendly folk. There are some ponys on the field too, which is lovely. Bathrooms were always clean and tidy. Showers were warm and comfortable. They even got a fridge for food and stuff which you can use for free. It is about half an hour walk to the centre of Kilkenny, which is absolutely awesome because there are so many nice pubs - you really don't want to drive on your way back to the camping site ;-) enjoy some Kilkenny in Kilkenny :) We loved it! Only negative, but I don't think they can do anything about it: the drink water tastes of chlorine. But there plenty supermarkets in Kilkenny, so it isn't a problem at all.”

“I'm just back from one of the most enjoyable retreats - Yoga with Tim and learning how to cook and eating delicious vegetarian food with Linda. I felt so welcome and relaxed in my comfortable bedroom. Tim and Linda are so down to earth and lovely company at meal times. This retreat totally fulfilled my expectations and I will be back.”

“Stayed as a student nurse working in the hospital across the road. Breda is the most warm and welcoming host and really accommodated me in the midst of terrible weather ! I worked early shifts and Breda got up especially early for me to make sure I had a lovely breakfast. Slept peacefully both nights in a cosy and immaculately clean home. Thanks again :)”

“It's a bit out of the way but the main thoroughfare and the castle are only 15 or so minutes walk away. The house itself is wonderful, the room is nice and the shower is great. The breakfast is also very good. And you should check on the dog. Coco is very cute.”

“Had one night stay and have been fine. It’s a nice place with kind stuff with a nice family atmosphere. Rooms are typical, clean and comfortable (bathroom a bit undersized but working fine). At 15-20 minutes walking from Kilkenny, so quite practical. Thank you very much for the nice time”

“Wonderful! Not for those who want a luxury spa and 5 star dining. This place is a hidden jewel of history and architectural magnificence. Comfortable, not opulent. Wonderful hosts. (Derrick and Liz) The party on Tuesday nights in the Black Abbots dining room was great fun. The grounds are manicured and the garden is well tended. It is quiet and hidden and perfect for a cultural explorer.”

“This review is for the restaurant. We were here for dinner - I had the special for the evening, a duck confit, and my partner had the vegan lentil curry. The duck was sumptuous and came with a generous serving of roast potatoes, mashed potatoes (parsnip?) and a side of greens. The curry was flavourful and was accompanied by a bowl of beautifully cooked rice. We loved the food here and would highly recommend it. Prices cheaper for lunch.”

“Have stayed there for two nights. Loved the location, as this BnB is located very near the city center. I was able to find various dining options nearby (within a 5 min walk range). Train station is also within 600 m range, and the same as it from Kilkenny castle. I liked the breakfast, and the speed of interest was okay. I got a the top floor room and the view from that room was nice whenever there was a sunshine.”

“Recently stayed while on a trip, lovely people running the Inn. Room was modern and comfortable. We had dinner one night there and food was enjoyable. Once you have transport location is fine as we could drive into Waterford City as needed. Would recommend and great value.”
