Ideal AV Home Cinema
“Would just like to say what a very pleasant experience it was to deal with Allan at Ideal AV Home Cinema. I purchased some Oppo PM3 Headphones from him and he could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble for him. From the moment I placed my order he kept me up to dale with what was going on right up to final delivery. Thanks Allan I hope to do more business with you in the future.”
The Guildhall York
“Sited on the River Ouse, this is a most handsome building, built in the 15th century. Restored in April 2022. Had an opportunity to wander around on York's first "York Unlocked" weekend event. (More, please!) The main hall is a fabulous space with an incredible ceiling, you'll get neck ache from craning up to admire the ornate, colourful, wooden carved bosses. The Council Chamber on the floor above is equally as stunning, go and have a look, a hidden treasure indeed. From the opposite river bank, you can clearly see the WW2 damage reaped by the incendiary bombs. Bombs destined for York Railway Station overshot their target and hit the Guildhall instead, leaving black, charred streaks up the window masonry. (Learnt that snippet on the river cruise, which is well worth going on.)”
Everyman York
“Good experience and comfortable seating. Screen 1, row E there is a safety bar that is in the way. Avoid this row. Staff were very helpful. But management need cleaners to clean the sofas after a viewing. Ours had food and sauce on it. Otherwise was very enjoyable.”
York Theatre Royal
“The theatre is ideally located, just on the edge of town. It's an old building but it is really well maintained and has kept it's original features. The foyer/reception/cafe/bar/seating area at the front is modern with different types of seating for everyone. The cafe do a selection of different coffees and teas and buns and cakes and crisps..and, of course..potted ice creams..in 3 or 4 different flavours. The prices are reasonable. The bar seems to be well stocked. There's an upstairs seating area but I have never been up. Not sure if they do light meals/bar snacks. The staff are always very helpful. The toilets are always clean and the auditorium is always clean. The seats are laid out well so that you always get a good view of the stage. They put on some really excellent performances, to suit all tastes. Not sure about accessibility but I have seen wheelchairs in the theatre lots of times. Actually, I know that they have good accessibility. There are no steps to get into the theatre, from the street. A real treasure, we are lucky to have.”
Vue Cinema York
“Fantastic cinema experience, the seats are so comfortable and add that extra touch. Staff were friendly and the venue clean. Great value for money. Pick your favourite film and enjoy.”
Theatre@41
“Lovely little theatre. We attended a "Covid Secure" pantomime with our 3 and 5 year old kids. They thoroughly enjoyed it. The audience sit on two sides overlooking or at stage level, which means everyone is in the thick of the action. Each family group is separate by plastic screens, which felt safe. The performance was great and had enough subtle "in jokes" to keep adults entertained.”
Friargate Theatre
“Went to a Right Here Right Now gig. Improvised comedy sketches. Absolutely brilliant!”
Joseph Rowntree Theatre
“First visit to this great little theatre run by volunteers, it had comfy seats with great leg room and view from the stalls.”
Grand Opera House
“The staff was polite and helpful if required they any questions you may have. There is plenty of leg room from the seats in front of you. If you scan the code on the back of the seat Infront the staff will bring drinks, snacks, ice cream to your seats. It is really original decor inside with the royal boxes. Well worth a visit to a show. Not disappointed in any way...”
Cineworld
“Traveled on a bus and walked about a mile to visit this cinema from Scarborough and got to tell you it was worth it. I think seats are better in the vue but both are very comfortable either way. Only wish they had a bigger selection of drinks as I was wanting an energy drink but don't think they had any. Friendly staff too! I chatted to one about the movie DBS Super Hero I had watched”
City Screen Picturehouse
“This is a fantastic, chilled place. The auditorium sells drinks and snacks plus there's a bar - and they even allow the drinks to be taken into the cinema! The seats are very comfortable and the angle of their position means you aren't looking at the back of the person in front throughout the showing. Recommended for a visit, even if it's just for a coffee and sit by the window next to the river.”
The De Grey Rooms
“Wonderful. An amazing experience. The tasting menu with wine pairing was superb. We were still talking about it a week later. Hope to be back before too long. Thank you.”
King's Theatre
“Great lectures always taken place in this theatre. In school but open for public before pandemic.”
