Reviews
"I work for a mental health and substance abuse company and two of our staff members took our inpatient girls to this Goodwill yesterday (Ashland on Winchester.) They were only going to give our girls one outfit with their vouchers. They were very rude. They called them “god**** crackheads.” And also said “AA is for quitters.” The staff reported it to the manager at the other Goodwill in Ashland because she is supposedly over both goodwill’s. So just FYI all of our girls were upset and just wanted to let everyone know how rude and disrespectful they were."
"UPDATE (3/25/2023): I know this was a huge endeavor, and I thank all the staff there for going the distance, so I changed my review to 5 stars! I saw today that there was a full sweep of the store being done for quality checks. Each clothing item was looked over, and if they were not up to standard, they were put into carts for removal. This greatly improves the shopping experience, as it frees up more space so you don't have to fight against the cramped clothes, easier to notice pieces that fit your style, and most of all, there's a lot more confidence that the clothing is in good shape! There were a lot of really interesting items in the store today, too-- a lehenga skirt, for instance! --- There should be better quality control for donations. I'd say over half the items on the racks have stains or damage. Granted, that responsibility falls more on the person who donates rather than the people who work intake. C'mon folks, this place isn't meant for trash. If you would be embarrassed to give it to a friend, in the item's current state, then you should not be donating it either. I also don't like that the prices for clothing are no longer standardized. There was a Victoria's Secret chemise I got that should have been priced the same as any sleepwear, but since it was from Victoria's Secret, it was $10. I hadn't realized until I was purchasing-- still bought it because I really liked the print, but this store should be about affordability. When I was young, during lean times, Goodwill was a God-send. Now the pricing is becoming too much for the people it's meant to provide relief for, and that's worrisome. However, the staff there are very sweet and hard-working. So I hope their pay has increased along with the prices. If not, then the staff need to negotiate higher pay since Goodwill's clearly making higher profits."
"This has to be hands down one of the worst Goodwill stores I have ever visited. I have been to many Goodwills, in many different places and this was by far the worst. To start off if you are looking for any kind of deal this is absolutely not the place. Any item that is electrical is 100 times the price of a new item you can purchase at Walmart. They had a "new" sound bar in the box for $225. Any person with half a brain knows a decent sound bar can be purchased new for less than $100. I wasn't completely sure if it was even new. The #1 worst complaint I have about the store is the awful media section. Every book sits in a wire type of shelving causing the books to get further damaged than they already are. On top of that every hardback book is $2.49 and every paperback is $1.49, and most of these books are in bad enough shape they need to be given away. As far as the DVDs and CDs are concerned, most are in despicable shape. Many are either scratched up horribly or the cases look like they were run over by a pickup truck. To top it off, if that's not enough, you can pay $3.99 a piece to own one of these beautiful pieces of lawn garbage. That makes perfect sense when you can buy brand new DVDs and CDs at a Walmart or various other retailers for $5. Don't even waste your time with the clothes that look like they were donated by the local sanitation department. Hopefully someone doesn't respond to this comment with "when you come to Goodwill you help with the jobs in Kentucky" blah blah blah. If this place cared about the people in Kentucky they would burn this store to the ground. Sadly most people who probably shop here can barely afford to put gas in their vehicles. Yet that is exactly who is being taken full advantage of. This is an insult to humanity and any store that considers itself a "Goodwill." Do not donate to this store or give it any more money than they are already taking from the citizens of Ashland, Ky. Stay classy Goodwill."
"Best Good Will ever!!!! My husband and I even found and purchased a handmade patchwork quilt, the ones you see at flea markets for $100 or more. There was even stitching at one corner that read, Debbie 1977. Wow, the quilt is 45 years old and looks brand new!!! What a wonderful and great find. I will cherish it always. Oh yeah, and we paid $8.99 for it!! Yes, $8.99!!!"
"They overcharge. The sign says the shirts are 2 for $3. And the green tags were half off. I bought 4 greens and another shirt and was charged $13. It should have been $3 for the 4 greens tags and $1.59 for the other. Should have been $4.59. I'm dirt poor. That's why I shop there. They are charging over $4 for each non-discounted shirt. If I had realized it, I'd not have bought as many."
