Parkview Regional Medical Center

"1. My elderly father was hospitalized here for several month with significant illness. We were pressured to remove care *constantly*, and were never allowed the options he or our family wanted. If we wanted him to be allowed to eat, we had to agree to withhold necessary heart medications. It was a death trap loop which haunts our family to this day. 2. He was treated without respect and dignity by many staff because of a particular diagnosis. Several Drs spoke of topics by his bedside, which I repeatedly asked them to speak to me privately about- while tears ran down his cheeks. Absolutely unacceptable. 3. After my father's passing, attempts to obtain medical records have been met with ridiculous demands. Legal and valid court documents (electronically signed estate documents) are deemed inadequate and we are told to ask the court to re-sign in Parkview's preferred manner. What? Since when does a medical records department have the authority to challenge a county court? Overall, I recognize that a lot of people receive good care through the Parkview system. That was not our experience. That said, an enormous number of individual nurses, techs and some hospitalists were truly empathetic care givers and we are very grateful to these individuals apart from the Parkview system."

"We took my mom to the emergency room procedure area to have a kidney drain tube replaced that had pulled out. After the procedure she was in severe pain, shivering from being cold and thirsty. I asked several nurses for assistance and was ignored till I asked to speak to a supervisor who they said was not there. Then who is supervising these nurses? They would walk by her room and side eye me and my dad. My mom said the nurses swore at her and told her to shut up. She was in severe pain. Totally unprofessional. They left debris on her bed the old urine bags. It looked like they just got mad at my mom and left everything. One nurse helped get her in the wheelchair to leave. We did not receive any release papers."

"Worst experience of my life ! I took my son in on 12/23/23 around 10:30am due to a bad cough and asthma issues. We went to the emergency room , and the guy checking us in was very rude ! I get it , it’s the holiday NUN OF US WANT TO BE THERE. But this is their job!! So we got called back to the pediatric care. I wanted to get a Covid test for him and they told me results will come back in an hour and a half. So I asked them to call me once results came in well I missed there phone call and it took me over an hour to try to get a hold of the pediatric for the results. Never got a hold of anybody so I went in. Once I stood in line and got to the front I explain to the young lady my issue, she literally made no iContact with me laughed at me and told me the gentleman beside her would have to handle me. I stood back in line and once I got back to the front for the second time the gentleman cut me off while I was explaining my situation & he told me once he is finished checking the whole entire line in he would help me. At this point I’m frustrated. So I left and tried to call to speak to the supervisor on shift . Once again, the lady in the emergency room hung the phone up on me twice !!! I don’t want to call it discrimination. But that’s what it came off to be!!"

"Very disappointed with the "higher ups" at this hospital. While my mother received such AMAZING care from all of her nurses, beyond that has been nothing short of a migraine.. not to mention, the most important of it all.. the hospital moved her belongings from one room to another and put her phone in a bag of water and fried it.. now while we all have to go back to work we have no way to contact her during the day to make sure she is okay after her surgery.. very disappointing.. her patient advocate has not heard from anybody higher up for answers on getting her a new phone or not.."

"Almost everyone of course dislikes a hospital, but if I had to choice one in Fort Wayne, IN it would definitely be Parkview North. Directions are easy to read and understand as soon as you pull down the drive, might be hard to find your car after you park tho. Maps are everywhere you are walking so you do not get lost. If your here to make a visit stop by the main building and Joanne in Information will direct you where you need to go, she was very knowledgeable about this facility. Helpful, had a smile under mask of course and extremely respectful. Overall very good experience today."
