"2nd floor suite #210. Appointment ended unpleasant today. It was going fine up until my daughter was getting her cast fixed and a male who brought in discharge papers who i thought was playing around with the women fixing the cast. He said “and your stank face”. I don’t know what led to him saying this i have my 3yr old also that I’m paying attention to at the moment. I hear this and look up and the lady starts to giggle thinking he’s talking about her (me too). And as he’s ready to walk out says “nah not you, her”. And points to my 4year old daughter and pops his neck and says it again “her stank face”. Apart from this word, the tone and way it came out his mouth was very unpleasant. Though i did, my toddler didn’t understand what he was saying and just looked at him. And proceeded to show him she could cross her eyes. And he did it back to her. Everything that happened and was said after by them i spaced out because i kept processing what was said to her over and over in my head. If this was his way of playing with my child. It was extremely unprofessional. I know the word I’m used to it. But i feel like there definitely could have been a better choice of words to use when speaking to small children. Silly could be a good one. Still in shock really to hear that said at a children’s professional office."
"If you want any sort of compassion or understanding do NOT go here. The receptionists at the ENT desk are horrible. I drove in thunder and lightening and rained just to be turned around. Please hire better people."
"Let me start by saying that this review is only directed towards the Lab Services Department on the 1st floor. My entire experience from check in (extremely disorganized) to the moment we left, was terrible. First I was handed a wrist band for my son, with another child's name on it. When I corrected her, she appeared annoyed. Then we were called back to the room and the nurse we received was very impersonal. Not once did she smile or try to engage in conversation with us or my 10 month old who she was about to draw blood from. Working at a CHILDRENS pediatric office, you should make the child feel comfortable and safe when in your care. After the 2nd unsuccessful attempt of getting blood, I told her to stop. No emotion or lack of concern was expressed. I do not recommend getting labs done from this location."
"We use this location at times for my sons complex medical needs. He’s extreme high risk so you would think during a pandemic that they would have stepped their game up some with better precautions. EVERY single time we are here and have labs ordered, we have to wait such a long time! One time we even waited THREE hours to be called back. Another occasion we waited an hour (with only two people ahead of us). We ended up just leaving. We are here now for a glucose test (got here at 8) it’s now 9:00am and of course we are still waiting in the lobby. It’s just not acceptable in my opinion. Especially since this is such a large facility. Today as we were called back, they were about to administer the WRONG test! The employees are rude. We have much better experiences using the Scottish Rite lab at CHOA. If you are going to work with children, have a better attitude. It’s not hard to be a kind person."
"I had the most unpleasant visit today. My child and i was spoken to nasty and very disrespectful by Brian at the front desk security. My children and i was so public humiliated by Brian that i almost left before my child was serviced. Thank to the nurse who came to defuse the matter, i did stay for my childs testing. Just after Brian disrespected us i watched him overlook a white couple who came into the facility without a mask but he stopped an black woman who entered after the white couple and told her that she needed to "cover her mouth". It was at this point that i realized that we were being singled out due to our race. My child is diabetic and requires constant care.. It is heartbreaking to have to struggle with diabetes daily as a child then have to struggle with mistreatment due to our race. This behavior should never be tolerated at CHOA or anywhere. I feel so uncomfortable i will began to search for a different place for diabetes care for my child."
