“We were here back in 2018. Met some of the Farrell Clan here for drinks. The hotel was undergoing some change in management and was not up to par per the locals. This hotel has 58 rooms, restaurant & bar, full spa facilities, and can accommodate small groups or up to 700 people for conferences'. Well things have certainly turned around in 2022. This evening was the finale of the 2022 Farrell Clan Rally. And the hotel staff did their part for this excellent event. This was a five hour affair for 100 people & the band. Speeches, toasts. presentations, dinner, & music were the order of the evening. Dinner was three starters: beet salad, bacon & cheddar croquette, and my personal favorite - king prawn & chorizo risotto. Food choices in Ireland have made a quantum leap since our first visit here in 2006. Innovative and eclectic. Then came a good vegetable soup. Main course choices were: chicken bacon croquettes w/ chasseur sauce, roast sirloin of beef w/ gravy, and broiled Irish hake w/ chive veloute. Served w/ mashed & roasted potatoes, & steamed vegetables. Every dish was delivered to the tables correctly, hot, & delicious. Again a great job by the staff. Dessert was a choice of apple crumble & ice cream. Sherry trifle w/ cream, & toffee pudding w/ ice cream. Note: we were here just for this event so no hotel room review. “Whilst on holiday in the area we popped into this amazing pub / restaurant for an evening meal. We were very impressed by our overall experience; the food was fresh, hot & tasty, absolutely beautiful so we commend the chef, my partner tried the Guinness & stated it was exceptional, the place was so homely with really friendly & welcoming staff, the premises is spotlessly clean, the decor is tastefully constructed & full of character with lots of outside seating areas which were really comfortable with unique wooden tables. An absolutely awesome place we will definitely be revisiting and an absolute credit to the owners Pat & Imelda who made it their business to introduce themselves & chat to their customers, you have created a wonderful comfortable oasis with the best food we have tasted on our travels & so welcoming. We loved it & highly recommend it.”

“We spent a lovely few days at the Coach House at Augherea in July this year. Matt and Nora were wonderful hosts and provided lots of advice concerning local attractions and things to do. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were outstanding! The surrounding countryside is beautiful and full of history. Augherea was a terrific base for this part of central Ireland. The Coach House at Augherea is a modern and very comfortable conversion in this superb location. Our room overlooked a lovely walled garden with two magnificent mature trees. Matt and Nora have also done a fabulous job with the main historic Georgian house at Augherea. We strongly recommend Augherea at Longford, to others.”
