“If you weren't looking for it you might miss it. It's a lovely little place with all locally sourced food. We had an amazing sweet potato hotpot and porridge with apple granola, super tastey and lovely staff. Oh! and the coffee is great too!”

“I recently had brunch with my beautiful wife and mother in-law at The Village Inn and would highly recommend it. We collectively had the French toast and Breakfast Baps with accompanying coffees and it was very nice and reasonable value. Free parking is taken care of next door and the friendliness and service by the staff is A+.”

“This is my second time in Athlone and my second time at The Fatted Calf. It’s been an excellent experience both times. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere with very attentive and friendly service. The food is amazing and creative ; last night I had a delicious steak with picco de gallo potatoes. They also have an eclectic drink menu; I enjoyed an old fashioned and an expresso martini. I highly recommend this restaurant and I look to coming back”

“Lovely walk, nice and easy to do (we had a toddler and someone with difficulties walking and no problems had), map at the beginning helps you see which route might be preferable depending on your time scale. Interesting information posts along the way, straight posts with the info sort of slotted into them? I don't know how to describe! Either way they're nice and unobtrusive”

“Absolutely fabulous B&B, we had to attend a funeral unexpectedly & having this place as a base made things easier. Lovely place with character & charm, spotlessly clean, very reasonable priced & central. Owner was so helpful & checkin instructions & parking info very clear. Would definitely recommend & hope to visit again.”

“Recently at a wedding in the Glasson Lakehouse and stayed at the Glasson Stone Lodge which was a perfect distance for getting a short taxi to and from the wedding venue, the rooms were lovely and clean and the host Carmel was fantastic and very accommodating. Would highly recommend.”

“I've done this trip four times over the years, and I never get tired of it, the owner and his crew do an exceptional job of looking after you, he has plenty of knowledge of the Shannon and Athlone town, there's a small shop on the boat with refreshments and a if you like your Irish coffee the crew mate makes a beautiful one, filled right to the top to warm the ole cockles. I will be back. Highly recommended”
