Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo
Located at 3000 Northwest 83rd Street in Gainesville, Florida, the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo is a one-of-a-kind institution that offers visitors the opportunity to earn an A.S. degree while gaining hands-on experience in wild animal care. As the only zoo on a college campus accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), the SF Teaching Zoo is home to over 70 different species of animals and is maintained by students enrolled in the college's Zoo Animal Technology program. Visitors can enjoy a diverse collection of native and exotic species, including Bald Eagles, White-throated capuchin monkeys, American alligators, Matschie's Tree Kangaroo, and Asian small-clawed otters. The zoo features a 1/4 mile trail through a naturally shaded environment that is stroller and wheelchair accessible. In addition to the zoo, Gainesville offers a variety of attractions such as world-class performing arts, museums, festivals, live music, state parks, and freshwater springs.
