About the Morningside Nature Center
Morningside Nature Center, located at 3540 East University Avenue in Gainesville, Florida, is a premier nature park and tourist attraction. It is one of the last remaining examples of fire-dependent longleaf pine woodlands in the area, with over six miles of trails winding through various ecosystems such as sandhill, flatwoods, and cypress domes. Visitors can enjoy a spectacular wildflower display and observe a diverse array of wildlife.
The Living History Farm at Morningside Nature Center offers a glimpse into the daily life of a Florida family living in the mid to late 1800s. On Living History days, visitors can experience chores and activities from 1870 as staff interpret bygone days.
Please note that Morningside Nature Center, the park, and the Living History Farm are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. Additionally, the park may be closed during prescribed burns as part of land management practices.
Dogs are not allowed at Morningside Nature Center or on the hiking trails. Park hours are from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily from March 15 to September 30, and from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily from October 1 to March 14. The Living History Farm is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday, closed on Sundays.

Reviews of Morningside Nature Center
"It is beautiful. There is a learning farm and some woods, the woods are wonderful also. I remember once talking briefly with one of the rangers, and she was so helpful, and a really great lady. I had to tell my dear dog, of course, and he was most miffed about not being allowed in the park. A few times in the car, on our way to Gum Roots, I saw him discreetly pull his tongue at the park, when he thought that I was not seeing him! It is, really, a wonderful place"
"Great nature hike. Can have puddling after a rain so wear your hiking boots."
"The Native American experience was awesome...especially because it's set in nature. Thanks!"
"We weren’t sure where to go for the farm (read about it online before) but not very clear once you park where to go, basically towards the East or white diamond path you can find it. Kids had fun and it was definitely an interesting and educational experience. We stopped by the office and the rangers showed us a bunch of cool things there too."
"Morningside Nature Center is a very peaceful and quiet place to visit. I stumbled upon this place on accident one day and was surprised to find a farm with animals! The area is well kept and has a lot to explore. The trail is semi-shady and great to walk on. I recommend visiting the center!"
