Coastal Pediatric Care

"This place is a joke! I called made my appointment. They told me I could sign papers for immunization to be released. Then called me back 2 days later to say you need to come down. When I said I can't do that bc I'm on a tight schedule they proceeded to make it harder. I then called the other Dr to have paper work faxed over which they did. I then got a phone call back from the office manager telling me I needed to come down and do it that way. When I said I just called and she said they're faxing it over. She proceeded to say " oh well is it being done today"? When my appointment isn't for 10 days from today's! When I asked for her boss she said I am the boss. I said well who is your boss she proceeded to hang up on me!!!! They dont communicate with each other! I should of known better considering the reviews!! My kids went from a 4.8 dr to a 3.7! DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE!!!"

"Dr. Kim is worth switching pediatric offices for. She cares about her patients and the concerns of parents. We switched our daughter to her care a few years ago and this was one of the best decisions we could make for her care. It is sad that people will leave a bad review on here in an attempt to ruin her reputation as a caring provider. My daughter was constantly sick at a young age and one of the first things she told us was that she would take a phone call after hours if we ever needed. My daughter took a little trip to the ER for a skin infection last year and I was concerned with the diagnosis given by the ER doctors. She made an appointment for us the next day and gave a much better treatment plan and diagnosis more common to children. This saved my daughter from going on a month long medication with multiple daily doses for something she didn't have. We are scheduled for a health check next week and I know my daughter is in great care."

"I have been coming to this practice for 5 years. I’ve had many issues with the practice but brushed it off giving the fact I need the care for all three of my kids. I have been on hold many times for hours. I have requested documents that literally take 5 min to print and waiting hours just to come there and their recipients are using their personal cellphones watching tv shows. And paperwork still not done. Jennifer Kim released my child to school and instructed over the counter medicine when in fact my son had a respiratory infection/ hard core bronchitis she could have prescribed an antibiotic for. I also had to deal with horrible attitudes. They can never keep a receptionist or an assistant it’s someone new everytime. So clearly it’s not just their patients they are treating horribly. I called today to try and book an appointment for my sons updated immunization record just to find out they discharged me in august and lied and said I signed paperwork! I never signed anything regarding coastal pediatric. I was also seen after august and nobody had the guts to say I was discharged to my face they are conniving. So at that point someone foraged my signature. Also, I have sent many people here just for them to come back and say they also had issues. My friend had an issue with their doctors treating her autistic son horribly. And she was also discharged just because her son was autistic and that was obvious they did not have to state the reason why. I felt bad giving the fact I sent her. My other friend had a similar issue where the doctor is clearing patients just for the symptoms to worsen and they have to go to er just to find out the worst of the worst is happening. And I’m still giving many chances. I never knew it was this bad or it would get to here. They are losing patients due to their lack of care accountability and also understanding with their patients. I’m a single of mom of 3 and have a lot of stress and responsibilities and me losing the care from my kid’s physician is not something I wanted to include in my frustrations. This practice is running to the ground since dr Nelson left 5 stars to 3. I highly wouldn’t recommend bringing your kids here at all."

"My first frustrating experience here was when I brought my toddler to see if she had a urinary tract infection. The doctor initially told me to go to an urgent care the next day if symptoms persisted. When I asked why we wouldn’t just test her urine that day she admitted that they don’t have a nurse that is capable of collecting the urine. I offered to collect it myself (peds RN) and they didn’t have the supplies to do a cath (which is odd to me for a pediatrician office when that is the most reliable way of testing urine on diapered children). They didn’t even have a bag to collect with. So I chased her around with a cup, but that’s ok! At least we got it done. Had I not persisted they wouldn’t have ordered the lab, and I would have been going to urgent care, making the sick visit a waste of time. I’m a worrier… like many moms.. but I’m reasonable, just usually seeking some reassurance. Dr.Banks on a couple of occasions dismissed my concerns and made me feel silly for mentioning them. Of the 3 doctors we saw here, Dr. Weinberger has the best bedside manner and I had a good experience with her, until today. They’re very strict with vaccines - if you are the type of parent that prefers to do only a couple a visit or something like that, don’t bother with going here because they don’t care what the parents is comfortable with in regard to vaccinations. It’s CDC recs exactly or you’re out of there. When I mentioned to the Dr that I’d prefer to give my kids vaccines a couple at a time, she was instantly annoyed and wouldn’t even discuss it. Didn’t ask what my concerns were, didn’t try to offer comfort that what they do in this office is safe… nothing. And actually walked out of the room mid conversation. It felt like once she learned I had any hesitancy, I was just a waste of her time. It solidified for me that we need a better office that has supplies for sick visits and allows parents to have a say in their children’s healthcare. Calling and scheduling appointments has always been easy with plenty of available appointments. Front desk staff have been friendly. Billing department staff were friendly the 1 time I spoke to them. Wait times my first couple visits (a year ago) were crazy long but more recently have been better. For the record, I have never left anything other than 5 star reviews on other places. I’m not usually so negative. I’ve just walked out of that office feeling discouraged and/or frustrated a few times now. I think it’s important to share these things for others that are deciding on a pediatrician for their children."
