Welcome to the Gardena Mayme Dear Library, a cherished community hub located at 1731 West Gardena Boulevard, Gardena, California. As a proud branch of the Los Angeles County Library system, we offer a rich history and a wide range of services to meet the diverse needs of our patrons. Our library's story began under the guidance of the Wednesday Progressive Club before becoming part of the Los Angeles County Free Library in 1914. After a brief jurisdictional change, we returned to the County System in 1951. The current building, dedicated on December 5, 1964, was renamed in 1992 in honor of Mrs. Mayme Dear, a devoted volunteer whose legacy continues to inspire.

Welcome to the Southern California Live Steamers Miniature Railroad! Located at 2290 Washington Avenue in Torrance, California, the Southern California Live Steamers (SCLS) invites you to experience the joy of miniature railroading. Our 7.5-inch gauge miniature railway offers public train rides on the first Sunday of every month from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and the third Saturday from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Group rides can also be reserved on these days, ensuring a memorable outing without the wait.
