"This gym was designed very well. It has rubber floors that are great for basketball and indoor volleyball. It also has great fold away seating that can hold a school of over 1000 students. Very nice."
"I love this school! The staff really cares about the kids and does everything in their power to help the kids succeed in school and in life! Mr Baker is an amazing assistant principal and truly cares about the children, he never gives up on them and is very understanding and caring. The teachers use a program called Jupiter and it really helps keeping everyone on the same page. My only complaint is that all the teachers don't use it exactly the same and it would be nice if all the teachers took extensive training in the Jupiter program so they all used it the same. I also wished the kids homework and assignments could be done on an iPad like some of the schools do in vista. It would be nice for my child to have everything in one place and be digital, as this is where the world is going."
"STOP RIGHT THERE, PEOPLE SCROLLING THROUGH REVIEWS!! If you want a real, honest opinion from a student, soon to be former student, of WPMS, please read this review. I know it looks long a grueling, but if you really want to know if this is the right place for you or your kid, just read it. Okay, here it is. Enjoy! Great students. Nice campus. Fun activities. Inclusive of every age, sexuality, race, and religion. But I have a couple complaints someone should consider before sending their child here. Number one, the teachers aren't the best. Yes, we have some amazing teachers, such as Mrs. Osborn, Ms. Thompson, Mr. Lang, Mr. Prescott, Mrs. Marti, Coach Jamison, Mrs. Marks, and Mrs. Braun. But, there are also many teachers, who I will choose to leave unnamed, but lets just say I can name off 10 off the top of my head, including library staff and security guards, that are not the best when it comes to teaching, student and parent respect, and literally everything that a teacher should be doing as a successful educator. At this school, you don't have to worry about child on child bullying, but some teachers will choose to pick on their students for no reason which can sometimes be worse. Also, the security guards are horrible. Basically all of them. I get it if maybe they get upset because you are aimlessly wandering around the school and that isn't safe, but some security guards will go out of their way to dress code you, which really has nothing to do with safety. One time a security guard got mad at my cousin because she wouldn't pick up trash that wasn't her's and was all the way across the blacktop, so they made her BEND OVER just so they could say her shorts and shirt were a dress code. Everything about that screams "WRONG" to me. Number two, homework. Yep, we all saw this one coming. Currently, I am at my last year of WPMS and so far it has been pretty okay. Except for one thing: the amount of homework. Think about all the homework you or your child had in elementary school, multiply it by 50, and MAYBE you could get an idea of how much homework is assigned at WP. And this isn't just because I am an eighth grader this year. Oh no, this has been going on since I got here. Let me lay down a time line: In fifth grade, I got ten hours of sleep. In sixth grade I got seven hours of sleep. In seventh grade I got four-five hours of sleep. Now, I get 2-3 hours. I know everybody reading this is going to think I am exaggerating, but if you go here, you know what I am talking about. My parents are worried about my health because I am constantly getting sick from how weak my immune system is. This year, I usually come home, have a snack, and start homework by 3:00-3:30 PM and end up working on it until 2:00-3:00 AM, just to have to wake up at 5:00 AM in order to get to school before the first bell and have time to eat breakfast, which half the time I don't have the time to eat in the morning. We are all exhausted. We are just kids and we need sleep to be healthy, which half of us aren't from being overworked. I look at the little sixth graders and they look just as weak as us eighth graders and they haven't even seen the half of it yet. I just wish they would give us a break. Well, there it is. My honest opinion on my school. I think the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of something less is because this is where me and all my friends met and grew up together. Aside from all the bad things I just mentioned, Woodland has been my home for the last 3 years and I will always be a Bulldog. Hope this helped some people decide on if this place is the right fit for them or their child. Good luck new pups!"
"Both my daughters went through WPMS. They have excellent acedemic programs music program, art and video. Staff are very professional and friendly. We are very fortunate to live in the SMUSD."
"Looks like someone should have paid closer attention to the accusation of bullying by the teacher over the gum 2 years ago. Obviously retardation has corrupted this school administration to the core, and it probably indicates a problem throughout the entire school district. I can't imagine this happening in an environment of well-educated professionals, so my first reaction is that affirmative action and the lowered-standards for professionals it creates as a possible explanation. What's the predominant race at this school, and at the school district overall? What's the race of the school principal? How many of those in positions of leaderships have come to that level of responsibility by virtue of minority hiring and promotion preferences, and at the expense of those that are better qualified and are more deserving. And, for the record, since the school seems to be so interested in these types of questions, I've gone "all the way". I've touched and been touched both above and below the waist. Please inform the school administration of this."
