The Ventura County Juvenile Justice institution is a local government office and school located at 4333 East Vineyard Avenue in Oxnard, California, United States. Situated on a 45-acre parcel near the community of El Rio, the state-of-the-art detention and commitment facility was completed in 2003 at a cost of $65 million, with a primary funding grant of $40.5 million from the California Board of Corrections. The facility has a total capacity of 420 male and female youth, with 240 in the detention component and 180 in the commitment component. The facility includes outdoor recreation areas, a gymnasium/technology training center, a visiting center, medical offices, classrooms, and administrative offices. Staff amenities such as locker rooms, showers, and a dining room are also provided. Educational programming is offered through Providence School, while psychiatric and crisis intervention services are provided by the County of Ventura’s Behavioral Health Department. Additional services include medical care from the California Forensic Medical Group, cognitive behavior therapy programs, and various skill-building activities.
