Driving along 17-Mile Drive is an absolute treat for nature enthusiasts and photography enthusiasts alike. The route is dotted with numerous lookout points that offer panoramic vistas of the rugged coastline, pristine beaches, and dramatic cliffs. As you cruise through this upscale neighborhood, you’ll be captivated by the meticulously manicured fairways and the grandeur of the Pebble Beach Golf Links, which has hosted numerous prestigious golf tournaments. One of the highlights of 17-Mile Drive is the enchanting Del Monte Forest. This lush woodland is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, making it a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Keep an eye out for deer grazing peacefully, squirrels playfully scurrying around, and various bird species fluttering overhead. The peaceful atmosphere of the forest provides a serene escape from the bustling city life. Aside from the natural wonders, 17-Mile Drive is also home to several iconic landmarks. The Ghost Tree, a gnarled cypress tree standing alone against the elements, is a sight to behold. Additionally, the iconic Lodge at Pebble Beach and the Spanish Bay Inn add a touch of elegance to the drive, showcasing the area’s rich history and architectural beauty. It’s worth noting that there is a small fee to access 17-Mile Drive, but the experience is well worth the cost. "What a great experience. It’s $11.75 and it’s totally worth it. Also if you eat at one of the restaurants along the way on the 17 mile drive they will credit the $11.75 towards your bill. I highly recommend doing this, you get to see some of the most beautiful views of the ocean."
"The day was cool and foggy but the views still breathtaking. It’s worth every penny of the $11.75 entry fee. They provide a map upon entry to help you along the way but you may want to plot your trip ahead of time. There are 5 entry gates, I recommend the main gate off of Highway 1 (Pebble Beach exit). You will take a right at the first split to assure all the stops are on your right. You can spend the whole day exploring each of the 17 points of interest along the way but allow for at least 3 hours. Enjoy!"
"We had the BEST time stopping at all the stops. We saw so many cool things. Seals, birds, seagulls, trees, and the ocean....WOW!!! Showing my granddaughters the beautiful sound of the water on the pebbles and then the sand, the lone cypress, I could go on and on."
