Originally constructed in 1882 by the Kellogg & Maurice Bridge Company for the Cincinnati & Southern Ohio River Railroad, the bridge has a storied past. Over the years, it became a part of several major railroads, including the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago & St. Louis Railway and the New York Central Railroad. In 1976, the bridge was incorporated into Conrail's L&A Running Track, only to be abandoned a few years later in 1979.
Today, the bridge has been transformed into a vital part of the Aurora-Lawrenceburg Trail, thanks to its repurposing in 2006. This rail-to-trail conversion allows visitors to walk, bike, or jog across the historic structure, experiencing the blend of nature and history in a unique setting.

"Currently part of the Aurora-Lawrenceburg rail trail. Built in 1882 and used for rail traffic until 2006 when turned into a recreational bike trail. Free parking and bathrooms are close by at the trailhead. A Pratt Through Truss constructed by the Kellogg & Maurice Bridge Company of Athens, Pennsylvania for the Cincinnati & Southern Ohio River Railroad."
