"Update: I received my new kayak. Pro tip, you’ll get it faster if you’re ok with a different color. If the customer rep would have clarified that at the beginning, I’d be much more satisfied overall. If you are going to place a warranty claim and you want the same color, you may have to wait an extended time for that. Unfortunately, my kayak did not last through the summer. It snapped at the seam when I was setting it up. At first, they seemed very responsive regarding a replacement. However, every subsequent email would not give any specifics about when a replacement would be shipped. Initially, I was excited about this purchase, but the warranty process has been disappointing. My hope is that I can update this review with a satisfactory resolution."
"Ordered my tucktec on July 5th. Website lists shipping date at 3-7 business days from order. After a couple weeks of sending emails regarding my unshipped kayak I finally realized that kayak was never going to come by September. TWO MONTHS from my order date. This would have been fine if I had been told upfront. But I was lied to. I cancelled my order on 8/14. It is 8/30 and I still do not have my money back. Disappointed because I went out on a limb to purchase one of these without ever even sitting in one. More disappointed that I can’t buy anything else until I get my money back, and with each passing day I believe that may never happen."
"Boat almost sank suddenly on a large bay. Everything was fine until suddenly the left side buckled in and bent inward in a sharp V. This caused the left side to be 1-2 inches away from taking on water. I had to paddle back 30 minutes while shifting my weight to the right to prevent from sinking. This was a VERY VERY close call. I would have been safe but I would have been stranded on a muddy marsh (with my phone) waiting for the coast guard. Lesson learned: do not take a flimsy kayak into any water that you don’t mind swimming in. The only thing that I can think could have happened is that maybe the weight on me getting into the kayak while it sat in very shallow water might have been too much stress at a critical point causing a fold or area of weakness. It’s weird though because everything was normal until 30 min into my trip and then suddenly the left side foam edging popped off and luckily I noticed it right away! But if that fold had pushed in any further, I’m confident I would have sunk very quickly right there alone in the bay. I gave them 2 stars because I used the kayak many times before without any dangerous problems. BUT I’ll also say that the seats are simply terrible. But there’s no way I can recommend these. I did not expose it to any sort of stress beyond the normal use of a kayak (and arguably more gentle too because these flex). If you’re going on the water, get a real boat that cannot fail you and sink. Tucktec boats have numerous potential failure points and any one could sink you very quickly. Thats not an exaggeration. I mean that once you start taking water, it would be very hard or impossible to prevent it from going under."
"I love the outdoors, but never had a interest in inflating a kayak or transporting a hard shell one. After hearing about a folding plastic kayak, I did some extensive research and decided to purchase a Tucktec. THE best recreational purchase I’ve ever made!!! I can pack everything I need in the trunk and can spontaneously go kayaking at our local lake at a moments notice. It really only takes a few minutes to set up and take down so no excuse that it’s too much trouble. Very economical and a great kayak that’s easy to paddle and maneuver. Customer service is clearly a competitive advantage for Tucktec and it is clearly practiced by all their employees. I could go on and on, so try it, you’ll like it!!!"
