"Honestly a pretty awful therapist. Would spend 1/4 to 1/2 of the meeting talking about herself or the weather/traffic/etc. not leaving you room to talk, or if you did, would interrupt you. Didn’t provide any help at all or advice beyond “well, don’t do/think that”. What was the worst was that I was pretty sure she forgot my name a couple times, and did not remember a very traumatic experience I had shared with her. Also implied that I was lying about my thoughts or feelings because she had a sheet that she very clearly would check boxes off of and I guess I was not fitting all of the boxes. She told me, because, again, half the meeting she talks about herself, she works 12 hour days, 7 days a week, so no wonder she’s a pretty bad therapist. I’ve been seeing somebody else now and it’s been night and day how much better treatment has been. I’m not one to normally leave reviews, let alone bad ones, but it breaks my heart thinking somebody else would be desperate for treatment, for help, and then get treated the way I was."

"My review of Lori Hughes of Balanced Life Counseling Services: I am absolutely LIVID. Two times we had appointments at 7:15 pm. Our very first appointment we were kept waiting for almost 20 minutes with no apology. And when I did mention it, she basically said "well, that's what happens in this business." I let it slide, figuring she had an emergency session or a session that went long due to an urgent matter. However, I was further irritated by the fact that not only did we start late, we ended early! Really? I can't even get a full appointment, but you give others our time? The second (and LAST) appointment was again at 7:15 pm on a totally different weekday. This time we were left waiting over 30 minutes before I got irritated, angry, enough to walk out with my child. I called her and stated we had waited for over 30 minutes, and her response? "yeah..." AGAIN, NOT ONE WORD OF APOLOGY!! You know, our first five sessions are free to me, but not the insurance company, and I don't deserve to be treated as "less" just because of that! Totally unprofessional, uncaring and unconcerned that she left people who already has issues feeling like they weren't worth a phone call or a text to let us know Ms. Hughes was running behind. We will be requesting another therapist, and will be informing the insurance company that, if they intend to continue referring her as a therapist, they may want to gift her with an alarm clock!
