Welcome to the Terre Haute Human Relations Commission, your dedicated partner in fostering a vibrant, thriving, and unified community in Terre Haute, Indiana. Located at 17 Harding Avenue, our local government office is committed to eliminating barriers and promoting equity, accessibility, and a sense of belonging for all residents.

At the Terre Haute Human Relations Commission (HRC), we work tirelessly to eliminate discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodation, education, and financing. Our efforts focus on ensuring fair treatment for all, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, age, gender, gender identity, familial status, sexual orientation, or mental or physical disabilities. We are dedicated to upholding the principles of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and stimulating community awareness of diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities.

Our mission is to lead Terre Haute in building an inclusive community by:

- Enforcing the Human Rights ordinance.

- Empowering the community to eliminate barriers to equality.

- Educating the public about rights and responsibilities regarding discrimination.

We also serve as a bridge between the LGBTQ community and city officials, with dedicated liaisons in both the Mayor's Office and the Police Department. The LGBTQ Mayor's Office Liaison and LGBTQ Police Liaison, Sgt. Justin Sears, are available to address concerns and enhance communication with city officials. Join us every third Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall's Board of Public Works Conference Room, where the public is welcome to attend our meetings. We encourage community participation and collaboration in our efforts to create a more inclusive Terre Haute.
