"No auto pay option as they pull in too much fee money. 752,000 to be exact. Horrible service and horrible staff."
"I was buying a house and in order to turn on the water they wanted me to pay the owners back bill of $200 before I could get my water turned on. Also I have lived in the same place for 5 years now the water bill is never the same. I swear the randomly throw a bill at you and make you pay it. Also the if your bill is past due they add more money about $8 and if not paid in a week they Turn you off and then you have to pay an extra fee of $40. They are money hungry and don't care about this town. It's really sad."
"Horrible experience. It looks like the personnel and some landlords in town have a deal. We went to pay for our water connection without knowing that they do not take cards, our former landlord went with us to supposedly show us the office. Well he suggested that because we needed the water on, he would pay it at the moment and we would pay him after going to the closest ATM...which we did right away after leaving the water co. office. ( We have proof) We moved and the lady @ the office stated to us that we won't receive the deposit back and that our former landlord will, because after we left she posted a note in the paperwork saying that he paid for us. She also provided to this landlord with our new address. Our privacy was not protected at all by this department. I am sure we are not the only ones with problems with them. We want an investigation, privacy is important and this workers are running scams and not following policies."
"My 87 year old mother lives in Georgetown Illinois and has lived there her entire life. She is and always has been an outstanding citizen and has never paid a bill late. A couple of years ago she started needing some assistance with getting around and paying bills. My sister set all her bills up to automatically come out of her account each month. The Georgetown Water Company was the only one that this could not be done for. My cousin then started picking up her check every month and taking it to the office to be paid. Every month her bill is around 41.00 and she averages 12 gallon usage. Last month my cousin went in to pay the bill. She gave them the money and proceeded with her day. This morning my 87 year old mother woke up to having no water. Upon investigation we had found that they had disconnected her service for non-payment. So my sister (who lives out of state) and my cousin inquired into what the problem was. Especially since they knew it had been paid. It turns out that for some reason no one can seem to explain her bill had doubled but yet her new bill was back down to 41.00! So no leak obviously! That is a huge difference in a bill! So instead of my relatives getting answers to how this could be possible and why she was shut off without notice. Both of them were treated very rudely by one of the female staff in the office. Both asked why did she not receive a bill that said she was going to be disconnected?? Why didn't they give her a call??? Why didn't the person excepting the payment say "Do you realize this is a partial payment and it will be shut of by the 15th if not paid"??? Why?, did not any of the above happen??? There explanation was " it says right on the bill that it will be shut off if not paid by the 15th" and " We have over 200 disconnections a month and there is no way we can call everyone", This woman was very rude in tone and manner and gave them the impression she could have cared less? What happened to customer service Georgetown???? What happen to looking out for the elderly??? You are not that big of a town. I know I grew up there also. You may not need to call your regular offenders who are late every month but you are a small enough town and my mother is well known and so are many others that if you see something out of ordinary you would have the common courtesy to say something or make a simple phone call. Furthermore I live in the city with a population of 65037,334 compared to Georgetown population of 3474 people and we get a disconnection notice other than what is written on the normal bill!!!! We get courtesy calls too!!!!! Get with the times Georgetown! Are you that far behind in technology that you can not set up an automatic bill pay for people who can not get out or need it???? All I can do is shake my head the way my family was treated today. Especially my mother who spent the day extremely upset; something she does not need to be at her age! I am very disappointed in the town of Georgetown and the way the employee spoke to my cousin and sister was unacceptable. If someone would please let me know who is in charge of this employees and who makes these policy's I would appreciate it. I want to make a formal complaint!!!!! It sounds like some changes in staff and policy need to come! I can only imagine if you are treating your known elderly in the community in such a manner what you are doing to people who are struggling in this economy. You are the only company in this town and it appears by the attitude and policies that you are flexing your power and taking advantage of people. Shame on you!"
