Reviews
"This place has a lot of potential, but has not been kept up. There’s a sign that says it will be closed for a short period in 2010 and maybe it was closed and never properly reopened. The office windows are broken out. It appears that only random maintenance of cutting some grass and tree limbs is all that occurs. Some areas are dangerous. Proceed with caution. There are some beautiful plants growing. The GPS tried to have us turn down many old logging trails. We couldn’t, but by being rerouted we eventually got there after about 1/2 mile down a dirt road that we were not sure was it. There was no one there, but us. Watch out for nature— snakes, bugs, etc."
"This place has not been maintained in a while and it is in the middle of nowhere. If you are expecting well manicured area this isn't for you. If you are wanting solitude and a quiet walk with some sketchy bridges, it is right up your alley."
"This place is abandoned and in the middle of nowhere. It's very creepy but cool. Definitely not safe and if something happened to you out there, you would not be found in time lol. Most of the buildings and walkways are in a serious state of dilapidation. Explored some of the gardens and paths for a while. Saw the biggest water moccasin of my life and headed back to the car."
"I trusted the nicely maintained dirt road I took at the intersection, and it was only about a mile to the turnoff. When I saw the overgrown landmark sign, I began to lower my expectations. The next 3/4 mile was two dirt rows for my wheels and lots of grass that increasingly brushed my undercarriage. The entry was unkept and if not for the chain on the ground between two small posts, I would not have found the entry. These pictures were taken from the car, because I was unable to get out due to the swarm of mosquitoes. I hope there are plans to revive this bit of history. Maybe I will check back when the temps are too cool for all the vampires!"
"I was only able to explore a quarter of it, but it's definitely saved in my hidden gems, and I will return. If you love history, nature, and exploring this is the place!"
