"I adopted a kitten from the Care Humane Society over a week ago, and she is one of the sweetest cats I've ever met. Overall, the adoption process is straightforward and easy. The adoption application may seem a bit long initially, but they want to ensure the animals go to good homes. The employees are very helpful and answer any questions you may have. They try their hardest to get the animals to loving homes despite being overcrowded and understaffed."
"They are extremely full so they did not having room where I could interact with the kittens, I could only hold them in the lobby. I would have liked to seen how they acted with me being free to come to me or not. Also, they were extremely busy on Saturday and it took a while for me to be waited on, probably because only one guy was doing all of it and there was a big discussion going on about the doggy virus with him and some customers. I was pretty bothered because I had an appointment for noon to pick up the kittens and I did not get out of there until 1:00. Another issue is they did not disclose to me ahead of time they medical record of the kittens. If I would have known they had such a history of illness, I might have thought twice about getting them. To their credit though, they did give me the senior discount and held the babies for me until I could pick them up on Saturday, since I am in Montgomery and they're in Auburn. Also on the plus side, is one of the kittens' wonderful foster mother who has been keeping in touch with me and was nice enough to pick up a kitty treat from Aldi and is a very nice lady who I handed off with. The other foster mother and I didn't really communicate hardly at all and she seemed irritated when I asked her questions about the kitten. So all in all, a tumultuous experience that could have gone a lot smoother. But I am happy to have the kittens home with me and they were well taken care of."
"We adopted two kittens in April, “Louis” and “Lola” as a birthday gift for my daughter’s , best gift ever! Great staff, super helpful and friendly. Their love for these pets is so strong that is contagious!"
"I have been volunteering here for over a year and can’t say enough amazing things about this place! I really enjoy spending time here with the animals as it not only makes me happy but makes all the dogs happy when they spend time with people. You can volunteer then have soggy dates and even foster your pet. Audrey the Volunteer coordinator works so hard and is so helpful and available. She does a great job of onboarding and educating volunteers. There are so many sweet and love-able dogs here and it’s sad they all haven’t found homes yet. CARE does many great events, where the dogs are able to be out and about + have the opportunity to be adopted. If you are able, even one day a week, come by and volunteer. If you can’t volunteer there are tons of donations they need such as food. This shelter does the best they can with what they have. The more people that help them the better they can do."
