Welcome to the Amtrak Police Department (APD), located at 100 French Street, Wilmington, Delaware. As a national police force, APD is dedicated to protecting the safety and security of Amtrak’s customers, employees, and stakeholders. With over 500 sworn and civilian personnel stationed across more than 30 locations in 46 states, we execute both behind-the-scenes and frontline security measures to ensure the safety of Amtrak’s vast network.

Our responsibilities extend to safeguarding over 30 million passengers traveling to more than 500 destinations across the United States and into three Canadian provinces, covering more than 21,400 miles of routes. We collaborate closely with federal, state, local, rail, and transit law enforcement agencies to maintain a robust police presence at numerous Amtrak stations and along travel routes.

For our community and stakeholders, we offer various services and resources:

- Obtain a copy of an Amtrak Police report.

- Request security services for VIP travel.

- Submit a form to request Body-Worn Camera (BWC) video.

- Initiate a complaint with the Amtrak Police Department.

- Request authorization to travel armed aboard Amtrak trains.

- Submit a note of recognition or letter of thanks for an officer.

- Report crime, emergencies, or suspicious activities directly to us.

CALEA sets standards aimed at enhancing the effectiveness, efficiency, and cooperation of law enforcement agencies.
