The Mezzanine Gallery

Welcome to The Mezzanine Gallery, a vibrant hub for art enthusiasts located on the second floor of the Carvel State Office Building at 820 North French Street, Wilmington, Delaware. Open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., our gallery proudly showcases solo exhibitions by talented Delaware artists across various disciplines, including painting, photography, sculpture, crafts, folk, and media arts.

This September, we invite you to experience "Mercado Kitsch México," an eclectic exhibition by 2024 Emerging Artist Fellow Julieta Zavala. Running from September 6-27, 2024, Zavala's collection draws inspiration from the rich cultural tapestry of Mexico City's kitsch art. Her work celebrates the creativity and artistic expression of the working class, weaving together textures, colors, and shapes to reflect their unique essence. As a proud advocate of Mexican culture, Zavala combines her heritage with contemporary social trends to create garments that are both visually striking and culturally expansive.

Join us for a Meet-the-Artist Reception on Friday, September 6, from 5:00-7:30 p.m., where you can engage with Zavala and explore her exclusive clothing collection and fashion runway. Each piece tells a story of everyday life and the unrestrained creativity of Mexico City, inviting you to immerse yourself in a world where the unexpected becomes a masterpiece.

The Mezzanine Gallery is a platform for Delaware's emerging and established visual artists, providing opportunities for Individual Artist Fellowship recipients to exhibit their work. To be part of our annual exhibition schedule, artists can submit a Mezzanine Gallery Application by March 15 or an Individual Artist Fellowship Application by August 1.

Join us on the first Friday of every month for new and exciting exhibitions (dates subject to change). The annual exhibition schedule runs from September to August, featuring a new showcase each month, except January.
