Welcome to the Blue Ball Barn, a unique museum located at 1914 West Park Drive, Wilmington, Delaware. Nestled within the scenic surroundings of Delaware State Parks, Blue Ball Barn offers visitors a fascinating glimpse into the region's cultural and natural history. As part of the state's commitment to accessibility, we provide beach wheelchairs at no charge, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the beauty of Delaware's beaches from sunrise to sunset, all year round.
Our beach wheelchair program operates daily from April 1 through October 31, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and Monday to Friday from November 1 through March 31, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lifeguards are on duty at guarded beaches from Memorial Day to Labor Day, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Additionally, Mobi-Mats are available at Cape Henlopen Main Beach during this period, providing easy access for standard wheelchairs.
For those planning extended stays, beach wheelchair rentals are available through Grand Central Rental. Please call (302) 227-7328 for details on rental policies and prices. Please note that anyone under 12 must be accompanied by someone 18 or older in their boat.
Our parks are also a haven for pet lovers, with designated "Dog Friendly" cabins and cottages. While dogs are welcome, other pets are not permitted in these accommodations. We kindly ask all visitors to adhere to the Division of Parks and Recreation Rules and Regulations regarding pet restrictions.
Equestrian enthusiasts can enjoy designated trails and beaches, with specific parking and access points detailed for horseback riding. Please consult our guidelines to ensure a smooth visit.

"We were at the Blue Ball Barn for the Delaware: A Brew Story Event. It's a great space! They have done a really nice job with the restoration. There is a sizable downstairs with several exhibits of what the farm used to be. There is a large courtyard that had a couple of good trucks when we were there. The upstairs is beautiful. Lots of exposed stone, wooden beams, and a great conference/meeting room. We listened to a presentation there. Overall it's a great space. We would certainly attend another event here."
"Very nice park. This is where you get your paperwork for climbing at the Alapocos quarry. That has many permanent anchors for rope. With a drop of 80 to 100 feet it has a great variety of surfaces. The path to the top is slightly challenging. When I visited, the was no convenient parking so there was a bit of a hike getting to the quarry."
"It’s a nice clean but rustic little place with a cool little museum part and a surprisingly pretty, quiet, cobblestone courtyard; where you can eat or lounge or whatever. There’s water and bathrooms and you can get climbing permits for the local Alapocas Park Easley by just signing some papers. The people seem nice and the building and it’s surroundings do too."
