"The very first night was when all of the cnas.walked out leaving the second and third nurses to take care of 21 patients. Then that Saturday night storm left us with no lights for 6 hrs. But the therapy people were grate. They had me walking, so I'm grateful for them I give them 5 stars. The place gets my 1. There was one nurse on the 3 shift that needs to go back to nursing for her foul mouth."
"Where do I start, this was my mom's 4th time rehabbing at the homestead, the first 2 times were great no issues the 3rd aah, now the 4th horrible. She was only showered once a month if that, was left to lay in her own stool for approximately 30 to 40 minutes at any given time after repeatedly ringing the call bell. She couldn't wait to get out of there, staff was rude and cold. The straw that broke the camels back for me to write this review was that she was finally released after they used up all her Medicare allowable time, then 5 days later was readmitted back into the hospital due to being overdosed by their so called Dr. Dr Asokan Rengswamy the dose was supposed to be 10mg he prescribed 100mg !!!! Luckily she is doing better and healing at another highly rated rehab facility that she now has to pay daily for. Thanks for nothing Homestead. Be very weary of this place !!!"
"My mom has been there 2 years. She is doing well there. The staff are very friendly and caring. Since they are short staff at times, it's hard for the residents to get the help and attention they need. Overall the staff work very hard to meet the needs and attention to residents."
"The Nursing and Physical Therapy Staffs were excellent and worked very hard to make patients comfortable and to get us well. The facility is clean and well cared for. Meals were offered in a good variety and were well done. Thank you for your care and support."
"If your going to this rehabilitation center make sure your in before 6p especially after surgery. I just had surgery and needed rehab, Denville hospital sent me to Homestead I arrived at 11p so I was in extreme pain but since I arrived so late there was no pain meds for me, I was told sorry no pharmacy on this site so all we have is Tylenol. Well that’s not exceptable since I just had surgery. No sleep apnea machine too late, no diabetes meds too late. Then the nurse proceeded to do a full body search looking for any scars rashes , since they didn’t want to be blamed for anything that was in my body. I said I just came from Denville hospital I have nothing on me. The rehab was very limited I only had 1/2 hr day every other day with OT 1/2 hr. When I got out I was told the worst thing for me to do was go to this rehab now I have scar tissue and needs to be worked out since I didn’t have much PT time which set me back 10 days. Some of the nurses were great Diana she was excellent!Jessica, Patty, Jill was good Gladys the aid was excellent! Michelle nurse was Horrible! I have never experienced someone so barbaric I was on pain medication she told me I was rediculous to ask for pain meds around the clock, she has broken ribs and don’t use pain meds. I just had surgery TKR and in extreme pain how dare you tell me I’m rediculous for asking for pain medication she was ruthless! I did notify the administration and nothing was done. Only 1 time in 10 days an aid asked if I wanted to shower or wash down if you don’t ask you don’t get, luckily my husband was there to do it, if you don’t ask for clean bedding you don’t get it. The place was under staffed so when you call the nurse it’s about 30 mins sometimes longer before someone will answer. The recreation girls were awesome! The doctor was through, I had bruises all over my leg and he order a Doppler to make sure I didn’t have blood clots. Kathy PT director kept telling me we’re not keeping you here you can leave at anytime. I didn’t understand why she kept saying that over and over maybe she knew I wasn’t getting the proper care and that was her way of telling to get out! So if your going to be in a nursing home setting your good but if it’s for PT you should do it outside of the rehabilitation center."
