"Please do your research on the differences between hospice organizations for your loved one's sake. While there are several kind employees working at LV Pocono Hospice, and the respite house is a nice facility, this agency is driven by and makes its decisions based on the bottom line ($) and not the best care/support options for its patients. My mother was on service for six months and the service never adapted (15 minute visits with the nurse twice a week and a once a week visit from once of the two total CNAs on staff who had to service over 40 patients). I was the sole caregiver at home, doing everything alone with extremely little support and as my mother's cancer progressed, I was instructed to hire (out of pocket), more support to ensure she was clean and comfortable. Thankfully I discovered another agency that changed our lives and gave my mom right from the start daily CNA care (including things like weekly music and massage therapy that I did not at all expect). They went above expectations and spared no expense to ensure my mom had the best end of life experience she could have ever dreamed of considering the terrible circumstances cancer sadly bestows. If you find yourself caring for someone who needs hospice and you love your loved one as much as I loved my mom, know that there are agencies out there that are still putting care before profits. You just may need to do your research to find them. Not all hospices are created equal."
