"I hired them to move 2 heirloom pieces of furniture from a neighboring state. The movers were very careful with the pieces and completed the job in a timely fashion. They did show up about 45 minutes late but were coming from 3 states away so it wasn't totally unexpected. I would hire them again!"
"I used this company several years back and I can say that it was a smooth and exceptional job done from 3 professional adult males. The company was so great that I referred them to a friend of mine who was also pleased with their service. However, just recently, I used their services again and I was truly disappointed!! I’m not sure if there’s a new owner or what but I was not satisfied AT ALL!! I paid $400 for a service that I paid just several years prior of the same items to be moved, 3 workers for 1 hour and all for $200 and this time it was horrible! Three employees showed up, 2 looked like they were just turning 18 and looked like they couldn’t lift over 50 pounds. There was a language barrier and I couldn’t communicate with them effectively. There was one male, who may have been in his very early 20’s who must have been in charge of everything. He directed the other two for the first hour and after that, I hadn’t seen them for quite some time. I asked the young man that was there with me where were the other two males and he said he was communicating with them in the truck from his speaker phone. I just so happened walked pass a window where I could see inside the truck and noticed that neither males were not there. My neighbor who lives where their truck was parked said she saw the two males sitting in their company truck and one was on the phone laughing and talking. I immediately got upset because I am paying these guys money and they weren’t doing their job. The oldest of the males said that they were up to their 2 hours and if I wanted them to complete the job, I had to pay for 3 hours. I told him that I will it be paying for another hour and that was not fair that the other two males hadn’t been working and he wanted me to pay them for another hour when they hadn’t been working for an hour. I would NOT recommend anyone to use this company! I was so disappointed with their services and I would NEVER use this company or refer them again. I see that I wasn’t the only customer who had experienced this problem with this company. My advice to the owner (s), hire men and not little teenagers and be honest with your customers. Honesty and fairness can go a long way!!!"
"Super professional, very reasonable prices (I was charged 150 per hour, no stairs), $75 distance fee (Philly to cherry hill). We made one stop at goodwill. I didn’t have too many things but everything was done in exactly one hour!!! All items were treated with care, no issues at all. Would definitely recommend this moving company!"
"This was my third time using Man with a Van, and it will be my last. To move belongings for a large studio I got the $200/hour truck + 3 person crew… to start, they were a half hour late and showed up with only two people. The crew members were ESL and didn’t have an app to act as an interpreter (like google translate) so I couldn’t speak to them the entire moving process. I had to ask them to call their supervisor, who is based in NYC- not Philly, to ask where the third person was and translate between myself and the crew. The supervisor said they would let me have the truck with a two person crew at a reduced rate of $180, which is $30 more than a two person crew for the van (I did this on my first move) which is not a deal given the circumstances. I requested that a third person come to assist, like I booked, as I needed more hands to help for efficiency and did not want to start paying until all three were there- this took another half hour and we started an hour and fifteen minutes later than what I scheduled. Once we did start, the team did not first look at all of the furniture, but instead just started to grab everything they could see and bring it to the truck, despite my big furniture pieces (like my bed, desk, and dressers) being in the itemized list that is required to be given upon booking- so they became upset when they saw the furniture and had to rearrange the truck to accommodate it. While individually they are nice people, it was very unprofessional and I was not given any compensation for the huge inconvenience caused by their lack of communication and preparation internally. I would not recommend their services at this time."
"I moved from Jersey City to Philly after my first local move with them and as a returning customer I was treated poorly this time about the damages occurred during the move even though I had proof and movers had a good idea what happened right away. Cost was $1800 and we were offered $400 or their policy $0.6/lb which doesn’t make sense when it’s electronics and they damaged two of our TVs and a vase. In addition, truck that was assigned wasn’t big enough for our stuff so we had to rent a uhaul the day after which wasn’t covered either. Finally, one of the movers forgot to give back our key fob and we had to chase him a week to get it back so we can have access to our garage. If you’d like to have an experience like that, use this firm. I won’t do it again."
