"Red Hill cemetary is an African American cemetary which dates to prior 1865. It was used for approximately 100 years. Through the cooperative efforts of Okefenokee Heritage Center and University of North Florida a slow moving project is being implemented to clean it up and map the grave sites. Previous to being used by African Americans, Creek Indians had 2 or 3 burial mounds in the area which is located on a high bluff above the floodplain of the nearby Satilla River."
