"My job with the state is to assist individuals with finding employment that receive services. I informed my client to apply for the open position at Ollies after noticing that they were hiring. The assistant manager told my client "yes, we are hiring" when my client showed up in person, with a clean background, dressed nicely, with an honest resume . My client called Ollies management a few days after submitting an online application for the job. He was informed that a callback will be issued after his application was examined that day. My client never received a call back, and we just assumed the manager will get to it soon. When my client returned to Ollies a few days later to speak with manager named David to ask about his application status, he was informed once more by David "I will give you a call". I told him since he went up there two times with no success just give it a few days, and call again. When my client called for the last time he was told the manager was not present and to call back. Yesterday, I went up there myself to see whether they were still hiring, I was told that David was "too busy" to speak with me and was given his assistant instead. I introduced myself and named my client, which he remembered once the name was mentioned. He said to me, "We simply don't have time to review applications, and we have interviews today". With confusion, I said, "My client has not even received a brief interview or a simple call back, and you've stated multiple times you're hiring in person, and online,". I also informed him that it doesn't seem like they're being fair and that there shouldn't be any discrimination based on ethnicity, handicap, or any other factor at work. Race isn't the issue (my client is of the same race as Ollies Management), but discrimination of other factors are definitely the case. The assistant wrote my client's first and last name down and told me "I will get David to look at it, but we be busy." After being rudely spoken too, I left the store and documented my unsuccessful attempt. This morning, I asked my client did he hear anything back from Ollies before I leave this review and he sadly told me "No Ma'am"."
