Montgomery State Prison

Welcome to Montgomery State Prison, an official facility of the State of Georgia, located at 650 Mount Vernon Alston Road, Mount Vernon, Georgia. Our mission is to ensure public safety by housing medium security and below general population offenders in a secure and efficient environment. The prison supports Correctional Industries and outside details, contributing to the community and state.

Our facility consists of six dormitories, each with 64 beds, along with specialized isolation and segregation cells. In addition, we operate a fully equipped fire department with ten beds, enhancing safety within and around the prison. Unique to our facility is the inclusion of a Fire Station and an Egg Producing Plant, which is part of our commitment to the Food and Farm Division.

Montgomery State Prison plays a vital role in the local economy, providing revenue details for the Department of Transportation, Montgomery County, and the City of Mt. Vernon. Our extensive poultry and egg production contributes significantly to the Food and Farm Division's operations.

To visit us, take I-75S, then I-16 to Exit 67, Hwy 29 South. In Soperton, proceed on Hwy 221 to Mt. Vernon. After passing the Mt Vernon Cemetery, turn left on the first paved road, Mt. Vernon Alston Road, and you will find Montgomery State Prison approximately 1 mile on the right.
