"Unethical doesn’t begin to describe the way one of their realtors conducts themselves. Went under contract to sell my father’s home who needed to sell his home to help pay for his retirement home, and the buyer was represented by Wilhemenia Clay. After the inspection the buyer came back with a new offer after finding a few things that needed repairs… understandable. After signing the new contract with their terms, and while still under contract, they’re unhappy with the terms and want to change them. Then they use an argument that the buyer is having issues getting an approval for the mortgage unless the price changes. Come to find out that the buyer is far more than qualified to purchase the home and turns out what they said to us was a lie. Then all of us a sudden, they want to extent the closing date by 25 days because while under contract they learned of some new grant program for buying a home toward remodel costs, they refused to renegotiate the price to offset costs incurred to delay the sale (property tax, utilities, property maintenance, etc.) they would not honor the contact as is even though we met their terms to the T. During this process we informed the realtor that they are to perform to contract and close on 8/15. They keep asking for an extension without any incentive to us as the seller to extend the contract. We come to find that the program will require contractor quotes and a whole slew of things and that this would take 45+ days before it could go to closing. Then the realtor has the audacity to ask for a private meeting with my realtor at my father’s home and refused to disclose what the nature of the meeting was. If that doesn’t sound sketchy, then I don’t know what does. Absolutely dishonest, no transparency from the buyer, nothing but lies and complete unethical disregard to the seller. I understand the agent is working on the best interest of their client, it that should now come along side lying, scheming and fair play and negotiating. If anything now the buyer is stuck having to start their search again because their realtor did not advise them properly, in my opinion, to keep the deal alive. Avoid working with Wilhemenia Clay at all costs. I will be filing an ethics complaint with the state of Illinois."
