"I recall in the late 1960s visiting Cairo while taking a college break. I stopped to eat lunch and found a sort of portly priest sitting by himself at a table. I asked him if ok to join him. He looked at me a little oddly and allowed it. He told me Cairo was a 'rough' place to live. Really nice fellow. God Bless Him."
"Stopped for mass on my way north. Didn't realize there was still services in Cairo. Very nice, clean and inviting structure. The building was 2/3rds empty. The lack of mass participation has more to do with the town than anything else. So much history & few remain to tell their stories. The entire town is dying. Such a tragedy."
